Do any of you have the combination of the EBR 5mm Finned Rotor, EBR Rotor Mounting Kit and Lyndall Gold Pads? http://www.erikbuellracing.com/store/parts-accesso ries/brakes/5mm-finned-front-brake-rotor-202.html http://www.erikbuellracing.com/store/parts-accesso ries/brakes/front-brake-rotor-mounting-kit.html I don't think the 6mm rotor is available anymore so I am considering these parts for my 08 XT to eliminate the pulsating and shuddering at every stop. I loved the stock brakes when the bike was new but now I hate the front setup after only 13,000 miles. I have cleaned the rotor and installed new Gold Pads but that only helped a little. I have checked the stock rotor mounting points and they flex in and out just fine. This bike has never been on anything but blacktop roads so the rotor and mounts really don't get dirty. It has gotten bad enough where I dread having to stop. Maybe I am too easy on the brakes? All opinions welcome. Thanks. |

You asked for opinions.... The EBR kit and rotor will do wonders for you. The Lyndalls may make you wet yourself when you find out how far you must pull in the lever to achieve similar braking force to the stock pads. Do the rotor and kit, and use EBC HH pads. Been doing that on my 09 for 15k, and stops like BUTTAH. |

+1 to rotor, kit, and EBC HH pads! |

I have the stock rotor on my 08XT, stock pads, and the EBR mounting kit. The mounting kit has been on for roughly 12,000 of the 19,000+ miles and I have no pulsing. EBR told me that the mounting hardware, which would have been on 2011 bikes, is a BIG improvement. I like the stock pads and have heard, a number of times, that the Lyndall golds are s-l-o-w stoppers. I'll stick with stock. |

I can believe the mounting kit is the main source of improvement. My son-in-law bought a 2004 XB12R with a badly pulsing front rotor. He installed the mounting kit with the old rotor (the EBR rotors were out of stock at the time) and the mounting kit completely eliminated the pulsing- for a while. After a couple thousand miles the pulsing came back, but I can completely believe if you started with a good stock rotor the mounting kit would prevent pulsing indefinitely. |

I have a 6mm rotor and EBR mounting kit with EBC pads. Perfectly smooth after 5000 miles. |

EBR mounting kit and EBC HH ideal combination. |

If you're ordering from EBR anyway, I'd get the 2015 compound pads while you're there. They're a little bit spendy, but I definitely like them even for street use. Mated up with the slotted rotor and mounting hardware, you're going to be up over $400 for the whole thing. Well worth it though. |

Odd to see this thread here today. On Monday, I ordered the 5mm finned rotor and mounting kit from EBR, then EBC HH pads for the front and EBC Black pads for the rear from American Sport Bike. EBR parts showed up Thurs, pads should be here Monday. I can't wait! |

I failed to mention in my original post that I emailed EBR and asked them if they would recommend installing the new mounting kit with my original rotor. I received a reply from one of the gentlemen within hours. He did not recommend replacing the mounts with out replacing the rotor at the same time as they both have wear points. I guess it would be about the same as replacing a chain without replacing the sprockets too. He also said it is hard to tell if just cleaning the pad deposits from my stock rotor would help or not. I already have the new Lyndall Gold pads, that's why I would like to run them on a new rotor, at least until they wear out. Thanks. |

if the rotor is ok, there is no need to get a new one, use th mounting hard ware i've done it to two bikes with the original rotor and no problem at all. |

The problem is, I'm not sure if my rotor is good or not. I don't have a dial indicator to check runout. What I do have is a lot of pulsating during stops with the stock pads and rotor. I only have 12,600 miles on this bike. Thanks. |

On our race bikes, it is critical to replace the pads at the same time you replace the rotor if you are changing pad compound. If you contaminate the rotor with a different brake pad compound then switch to something different, at worst you will not get optimum race braking performance and at a minimum you will get a grinding noise and some extra brake drag pushing the bike around the pits. A street bike might not be so sensitive to this...If it were me i would spend the $$$ on the good pads now and not risk contaminating the disc. |

On the new/used rotor deal: My son-in-law recently bought a 2004 XB12R; front brake pulsed badly. I told him about EBR rotor and mounting kit. Rotor was out-of-stock at that time (~1 month ago) so he just ordered the mounting kit. He installed it, and pulsing went away for about 500 miles and then returned. Not sure if it's as bad as it was originally; I suppose he'll order the rotor now. |

5mm EBR rotor, EBR mount kit, EBC HH pads = 7k miles of no warped front brakes for me! I think my last rotor replaced under warranty with stock parts was warping by now... I've noticed the brake pad deposits on the 5 mm rotor are very even compared to the stock setup. That makes me a lot happier. I count myself as a satisfied EBR customer! |

I did the 6mm rotor, mounting kit and EBC HH a couple years back and still works smooth as new. I had previously tried Lyndall pads and cleaned rotor aggressively (wire brush, garnet sandpaper, etc) but had little improvement to the worsening pulsing on my '06. HATED Lyndall, and would not let them touch your new rotor unless you have personally used them and really liked them (some do, but tide seems to be turning over past couple years?). |

I've used the Gold pads - not only do you need to put some lever effort into stopping, but...they don't fade progressively when pushed. They just...disappear. One turn, you have brakes. Next turn...nada. Pucker up, buttercup, and try to stay out of the field! I have a stock rotor, stock pads, and EBR mounts on my Uly. Love it. |
