The best thing any of us could do to help EBR is find a reason to buy the products they will produce. |

>>>Will Mr.Buell start hiring for EBR or are all positions filled Right now things are looking good. There have been (I'm not sure if the 4X number is on the mark but it may be close) lots of great offers of support and some interesting resume's. I'd suspect that December will pretty much be consumed with getting the business of being in business addressed but stay tuned to www.erikbuellracing.com for updates. |

Isn't today Erik's last day at Harley? There should be a huge party somewhere celebrating! |

Court is there a media blitz for the grand opening of www.erikbuellracing.com ? Like interviews with motorcycle magazines and press releases scheduled? Can the web host take a major hit count increase? To bad we can't get shirts or something in time for Xmas. |

Damn that's a cheap counter. I thought perhaps it was watching IPs, but all you have to do is hit refresh and it tacks on another hit. Lazy programming! ~SM |

It is a cheap counter, cheapest possible and you're gonna love the story why. It'll be changed in December. |

(Tangent alert....) Turns out counters are trickier then you think. You can just go by hits, and you have hit count, but not real unique visitors. Hit the refresh three times, and you have three hits. Perfectly accurate, assuming you aren't claiming to be measuring something you aren't. So you do it by IP address. Except that lots of sites have a reverse proxy for outgoing connections. I think AOL has 5 or so proxies for their millions of users. So a million AOL clicks would show up as "5" hits. Same with big companies and universities... millions of users would show up as a half a dozen hits. Likewise, I click at work, get home, hit refresh, then I gave two hits because I came from two IP addresses. OK, so use cookies on the browser. Better... one person refreshing many times is still one hit regardless of IP address. But two users from the same IP address give two hits. That's pretty close. Unless the user uses IE and Netscape, in which that counts as two hits. Or puts together a perl script that hits the site 11ty million times and does not store cookies... that's 11ty million hits. Or clears cookies. There is one more sneaky way to do it that is marginally more reliable then cookies, but not a lot, and I'm not telling what it is because it is useful to detect little punk script kiddies who try and ruin my vacations. They can figure that out on their own . So a hit counter is arguably the only perfectly accurate measurement... but it can only measure hits. It just measures how many times something somewhere requested the content of the page as specified by the URI. (Tangent off. Please stop baiting me. ) I will do free web development if it is something fun, or if it annoys Harley Davidson... |

Reepicheep said what I was going to say. Also, a "hit" counter is worthless. You want a "page load" counter, which is probably what is on that page. |

Maybe we can turn this into a sick, twisted contest...you know, see how far we can ratchet up that counter before it breaks...! (Message edited by fdl3 on December 01, 2009) |

Bill, be carefull what you wish for! Basic things are being done now. The Elves are in full song and this is gonna be cool. BUT it will take some time. Youmust remember that the day this was annouced was the first day Erik could really begin to start work on it and these thing take time. |

42,580 Other than the counter, nothing new to see on the page...sigh...can someone put a bug in Erik's ear to @ least put up 1 pic of him with a BIG SEG until he's ready to roll the site out? That'd just be neat on so many different levels. |

or generic counters firefox has a auto refresh add on you can get. Open aprox 10 windows of EBR and set auto refresh to enable . Then set the timer to 1 second. You will then be able to watch the counter count by 10's. Open 25 and do the same it counts by 25's. Till they change the counter design. This is dependent on your Internet speed and pc capability as to how many windows you can have open doing this at once. lets get 100,000 asap mike |
