The new all black bikes seem kinda boring to me. I much prefer the different shades of gray accenting the lines of the bike. Gives it a much more industrial look. Of course this is just my opinion...

I think the all black engines look nice but I do prefer the previous with the various shades. |

I think it would be nice if the 2 or 3 shades of black or grey would match. Why can't the frame, seat rails, and swing arm match? |

I like the all black ones. But I also like my silver and black 03 There are a lot more 12's out there, and now the 9 has a black frame too, so the silver frame is kinda different. |

I don't care for the new look. The old look of different colors gave the motor depth and detail. The new is like...oh ya...there is a black engine there...ho humm. |

Black rails & forks don't do much for me either... |

The only reason why I got a new 09 and not a used older model was precisely because I wanted the "all black" model... looks much sexier imho.

They forgot to black the gas cap, brake lines, brake line clamps, foot pegs, rear brake lever, shift lever, shift linkage, shift pivot, idler pulley fork, rear spring, and the hardware. I have a few things left to do. |

That's what they make powdercoat for. |

I should have said "I have a few things left to do from that list" with the evil grin. I've painted my spring, got a CR gas cap, ordered a front brake line (w/black banjos and bolts), I just have to find a good local powder coater for the remaining stuff.

Nice... I've been working on blacking out things too (idler pulley fork & hardware + Jardine clamp)... still need to PC the peg assemblies though...

I liked the black motor/frame/forks as soon I saw the pics, especially with blue wheels and bodywork. I saw an *all* black XB12SS at the dealer last weekend, and it looks better than I thought it would, very "Lord Vader, your bike is ready". I liked it a lot . I was glad to see the gold wheels disappear... 'til I saw a new black Yam R1 with gold wheels, which looked kinda cool... (Message edited by lemonchili_x1 on August 19, 2009) |

I like the black... hell, even my gear's black. Black/silver would be a good combo however. |

The all-black is great, but I agree that the engine kinda disappears in there. I'm happy with my '08 black/silver mix because it really shows the v-twin architecture.

I love the new all black. I really hate the color on my crankcase. I like the new ones' uniformity. Not so much of a hodge podge of random colors. |

The magnesium-colored bits are the only ones that have annoyed me. They don't like right with anything, because their gold-ish, and in random places. ~SM |

+1 on the mag parts. The goldish (dare I say) brown parts look out of place. Personally I like the all black. Stealthy. There will be much black powdercoat when I redo my bike. |

redbuell is that Jennings? Yes sir it is, and I'm hoping to come see you and Laird again if possible. I'll have the XB at Jennings 17 October for the BMWNEF track day, and I have one gift certificate left (I love my wife!) that I'll probably use in Nov or Dec- I'm gettin too old for 90F+ days on the track. Hopefully I'll see you 6 Sept... |

The all black to me looks plasticky and cheap, like the recently crushed single headlight-equipped Buells. A third color makes all the difference |
