sorry for being absent so long, I had a few personal issues to deal with including a deep tissue infection of a prior surgery site in my back. This is the reason I ended up in the hospital instead of being at homecoming where I belonged In other news I got my first tattoo yesterday (with Buell content even!) and wanted to show it off. I got it at Sinful Skin here in Mexico MO, I designed it myself and incorporated the Buell 25th anniversary logo and the date of my accident in the display of the calipers.

Brian: Glad to hear that you're O.K. We were really concerned when you didn't make it to Homecoming, and nobody could reach you. I like the new ink. You'll have to show it off at Homecoming next year. |

I've been down several times too Froggy, but I'm talking about the BIG one that put the hitch in my step and put me on the DL. |

Every day above ground is a good day! I was more upset about missing homecoming than I was about having to go under the knife again! I'm surprised that they didn't keep me under sedation for longer than they did because I was NOT pleasant company for this one, and I've been told that in the past that I was many of my nurses' favorite patient during my various recoveries at various hospitals. |

btw getting ready to move to Columbia MO in the next week or so, and I will also be getting one of my favorite cars of all time too! I'm getting rid of my 94 9c1 caprice (police interceptor with LT-1) and replacing it with a 1972 Javelin....Unless something goes horribly horribly wrong in the next few days. This car has a solid body just needs interior work due to sun damaged upholstery and this is a rare gem here in the rust belt. Another fine Wisconsin based vehicle for my driveway |

1972 Javelin!!!!!! No kidding! My Dad had a 72, and a 73. He was a real AMC man all the way up until the end. I learned to drive a Nash Rambler. My first car was a Gremlin. My Mom drove a Sportabout, and a Pacer. He even had a Marlin!

Brian, I am still hoping to get to Mexico to see you. Hoping to have a bike to ride with you as well. Know anyone at the Zenith plant? I'd love to take a ride. |

Nope, no contacts at the Zenith plant, but I'm sure we'll get together one of these days, it's a small world.....after all..... Sorry, I couldn't resist. Also, I'd go to the concourse d'Lemons just to see the unusual cars that show up, even though I do love my AMC "pony cars" the Pierre Cardin Javelins and AMX's were admittedly ugly and they did have their notorious "Friday afternoon" cars that weren't quite up to snuff. The car I'm getting currently sports a good ol' AMC 258, but eventually I'll be doing a conversion over to a 401 and making it functionally a street version of this 71 AMX
except that the current plan is for it to be metallic orange with a black "Skunk" stripe. |

The Javelin is one of my favorites ever since the next door neighbor had one and lets say that the daughter was a favorite of mine also. Hey Glitch my first car was a 1975 Gremlin Bright Orange. I loved that car but then again at 16 a car is a car and I did not know any better. Glad that you are on the mend Brian!! Post pictures of the Javelin when you can!! |

Court/Cyclonedon/Nevrenuf/m2statz and Dana: If I couldn't be there it is good to know that I was missed! If there was ANY way I could have made it I would have been there, but I went in to see the doctor about how slowly my back was healing and the next thing I know I was signing admission paperwork.... It was not my happiest day. Yeah Geforce unfortunately I know a bunch of them, I have been invited multiple times to come out and ride with the "Thursday Night Riders" but I somehow have found more compelling places to be....for the past 4 years worth of thursday nights I don't want to be a part of any group that routinely has to "scramble" to get away from the police. People get killed that way. |

Crusty: I somehow missed your earlier post and I don't want you to think I'm ignoring you. If I could have been there I would have been, but I'm sure you knew that. Were you solo this year or were you able to get company after all? |

I went a little heavy on the symbolism with this tattoo, the helmet is for my love of riding, the wrench and calipers are for engineering, the flames are for the accident that didn't burn me out or down, and you all know what the logo above the visor is about The skull and bones motif is all about my attitude of course. My left shoulder is my past/present and eventually when I find the right elements my right shoulder will be present/future. I think a key element will be a phoenix rising, and I'm sure that there will be BMC content as well, but that's all I have for now. I went 39 years, including 6 as active duty US Navy, before designing a tattoo that I felt comfortable having on my body for the rest of my life. I didn't come to this lightly, I never had anything against tattoos, I just didn't want one out of a book. The time and place were finally right.....Added bonus? My wife bought it for my birthday. |
