Only for the first 2 years on the original factory warranty, and you haven't removed the belt guards.

Yes it is covered by the factory 2 year warranty. If you have all the guards on you should shouldn't have a problem with getting it covered.

You need to find a new dealer, you shouldn't be paying a dime for warranty work.

At the pain of being boring and repetitive, I'll explain how it works for the 100th time.

HD does not reimburse the dealers for warranty work as much as the dealer can charge the customer.

That amount is limited only by the dealers' imagination and greed.

Most HD dealers have a pretty good supply of both.

Unfortunately candor is in much shorter supply.

The dealer does NOT have to send the belt back to HD, and I assure you they are not going to.

Your remedy: call Buell customer service. Be as civil as you can be.

Tell them as calmly and as honestly as possible what happened.

Ask them politely to reimburse you for the belt and the installation charge. Have all your paperwork to hand.

When Lighthouse HD in Port Jefferson pulled this stunt on me, I got my refund directly from Buell.

I was able to successfully give the impression that I was not so pissed off I could just strangle the next person I that came into view.

Wasn't easy.

Good Luck.

PS: Don't go back to that dealer. There are honest Buell friendly dealers out there. The trick is finding them. Start with our sponsors.
