But it is still available and after my friend sent me a picture of me sitting on it, I decided I don't look too goofy sitting on it (or goofier than I usually do...)

And after some weirdness with trying to post this twice already, I finally got the board straightened out, but I hope there aren't two other identical posts floating around somewhere here...

Anyway, a couple of questions, I could use some advice:

1. The Blast I'm looking at is a 2001, what issues did that year have? What should I look for? It did have a small leak on a line on the left side of the bike and the petcock leaked. With so little info, anyone want to give me some insight on trouble to fix these problems?

2. What's a good cruising speed for a 240 pound rider that won't hurt the Blast? 80? 75? 85? Speaking of speed, does anyone know the estimated 0-60 time of a Blast?

Thanks again for any advice, it is appreciated.

2001: The bolt on the front of the engine might break. If it does, don't experiment with different bolts. Order the exact bolt that's in the parts book. Torque it down according to the manual. If if has less than 5000 miles or so, it may still have the paper rocker box cover gasket. If it does, it will leak sooner or later. From the time you first see evidence of leak to the time it pours out is about 500 miles.

All Blasts: Whenever you or someone else works on it, and the exhaust pipe bolts are adjusted at all, check frequently for a few hundred miles to make sure they're all tight, or the exhaust pipe will break from vibration.

All those speeds are good if it'll do it. WOT is my favorite speed. 0-60? I'm not sure, but I know it's a lot faster than 60-90. It's quicker than most cars!

The only thing that would need to be done if not done already like Ruel said is to change the rocker box gasket.
I have a couple of 2001 Blasts and both have been through many sets of front motor mount bolts. The last set have held the longest and counting! I have only got about 8000 miles on any of the drive belts before having to replace them.
Other than carb jetting you should be good to go even at your weight and size.

What are you doing to your belts? Mine make it to just past 15K, then they fall off when it's parked. Are you using the bolt that the parts book shows? Mine stopped breaking when I ordered that exact part number and did it myself.

The Belts break for no apparent reason, other than having Samsonite luggage test gorillas operating the bike. The front engine mounting bolts stopped breaking when I installed Helicoils in the holes. I think the holes were slightly enlarged from the factory.

Yeah, I know when I was 17 I never ever thought to do a burn out or even try a wheelie, so it must just be the belt!LOL!

Reuel:"Are you using the bolt that the parts book shows?"Bolt?

A bolt is that thingy that is cylindrical and has circular grooves around it from one end partially up to the other end. The other end has a 6 sided head that's normally flat on top.

Sorry, the way your post is worded its sounds as if there is some bolt associated with belt replacement!
