I'm brainstorming ideas for an S3 build that will hopefully get started this winter. I think I've settled on a combination of themes - rat rod / bobber / WWII era aircraft.

Anyway I'm looking for a good resource of pin up girl art to browse through and get ideas. Anything like nose art from old fighter and bomber aircraft.

If you know of a good place to find something, let me know or post the pictures here.

Please don't post anything here that's not tasteful. Although I'm a fan of them, I won't be putting titties on the side of my motorcycle. If you know of a "borderline" resource then please just PM me instead of posting it here. I'd rather this not get moved to the backfire board immediately.

I was thinking of getting a tattoo of a WW2 era pin up girl myself. I also would not want any nudity though. If you find a good resource pm it to me as well please

Run a Google search for 'pin up art' or more specifically 'wwii pin up art' or 'wwii nose art'. You'll find tons and tons of them.

You can't go wrong with a true classic:

Tasteful and instantly recognizable.

I've always been a big fan of Alberto Vargas. SOME of these pictures are tasteful nudes, but most are lingerie-type pictures (scroll down to the bottom of the page):

Bhillberg,

Funny you mention a tattoo cuz that's where my suggestion of suicide girls dot com (Not Safe Fork Work!) came from, was my tattoo artist. Here's a pic of my in progress sleeve/ cover-up. The girl at the top was inspired by a model from suicide girls. My artist says she uses the site a lot when needing inspiration of classical pin up style models. This pic was taken right after the first stage of shading was done on her head and hair, and the "Lady Luck" banner.

I'm with Bandm, Buell on a Buell would be cuell (um, or is that kuell?).

Plenty of tasteful Buell pin ups on the bay you could use as a reference source to find prints and such.

The picture isn't very clear, but this was my grandfather's B-24.

It didn't last long. A colonel's wife toured the base and was so offended by the nose art that all the crews were forced to paint over them.

When I was at the Pacific Air Museum on Ford Island last year I saw a couple of killer nose art books.
I meant to go back and get them but ran out of time.

One of them was "Vintage Aircraft Nose Art" by Gary M. Valant.
It has stuff I've never seen before.

Unfortunately I don't remember the name of the second one.
The book is available from the Museum's website and also on Barnes and Noble.
If it was me, I'd buy it from the museum, that way they get a little profit.

Both books were excellent.

I took some pictures while I was there, one has the other book in the shot. I'll try to find it.

If you ever get a chance to visit the museum, don't miss it. It was a very neat place.
We happened to be standing in the lobby when an older gentleman approached and asked if we had any questions.
I had a suspicion that he knew lots. I was right. Turns out he got his wings at Ford Island in 1943 and was stationed there for the rest of the war.
It was like a living history lesson. My son (in the Navy) and daughter were captivated as were Jan and I.
He even told us where to look for bullet holes from the attack. Sure enough when we walked back to the Navy Lodge hotel, we walked right by the hangers he mentioned. The bullet holes were exactly where he said.

I've always liked the work Coop does, kinda roller derby meets Rat Fink, I like my women with some curves. And he incorporates alot of hot rod stuff in there also.

BTW, that link probably NSFW.

I've found these all to be great resources:
None are SFW.

Deviant Art has a lot of really cool art and has been one of my favorite sites to browse for a couple years now. A search for pin ups brings up quite a few good results. NOTE: If you aren't logged into an account, then Deviant Art is safe, but once you log in you have access to the NSFW content which is otherwise blocked.
