Pull clutch cover sitting level if oil is above level your crank seal needs replacing with updated double lip seal.

slippage could be worn back sprocket and or belt missing cogs

Gonna check the level this weekend.

By "slippage", I was referring to the oil on the back tire.

This S3T has been very very good to me. only minor issues since I bought it with 5k miles on it. I now have close to 40k and have done minimal work to it, except the work done to fix the mess made by the self destructing primary tensioner, I _knew_ I should have replaced. That might also be the cause of the failed seal (if it is one).

BTW: Another thing I have done is order a new baffle for the SSR2. Should be here this week, in time for weekend maintenance.

Washed the old M2 in preparation for pulling the transmission. The 1st gear lurch has got to go!

Pretty sure I'm going to buy a used tranny to swap while I polish the shift drum and get the gears back-cut by Baker, not sure if the stock parts can be saved or if it will need new gears.
I hope to get a billet trap door to tighten shifting up a bit too... time, and available overtime will tell =]

Drained my catch can, whew, that goop smelled gassy!

Made it into garage art.

Well, actually, it did it to itself...

I rode it to work for Ride To Work day yesterday and it was so good that I thought I would ride it again today. The ride in was fine and I was riding it more enthusiastically than yesterday. After work I fire my S2 up and the tach needle is doing the epileptic tach needle dance. Typically that has signaled failed batteries to me, but I was able to ride it home without the battery giving up the ghost. At idle, you'd swear it's fine. But give it some throttle and the tach needle dances, it bucks and pops back. It's definitely something electrical - those electrons...

I guess, after 117,000 miles (pic from after getting home tonight), it deserves to be a static bike only.

S2 retired

Still waiting for parts for the XT-BOLT's rear wheel bearing rebuilding, so I guess I'll have to jockey the bikes around to get the 1125CR out...

Got my velociraptor on. This is the pre 2006 carb kit.
I used the original buell bracket and the 3 long bolts for the intake. Everything else from the kit.
Now I'm not sure if I like the look or if I like the looks of the all black nrhs round ac better.

Got the header upgrade kit installed it while on the kickstand. Thought I wouldn't be able to get the holes lined up again. Luckily I was able to lift the shock up with the Jack. Front wheel was off the ground to not sure why that was maybe because of the angle.

Finally replaced my baffle last night. Had to buy some motorcycle stands because it is easier to remove the back tire instead of the muffler.

Found out as I was installing it, that the baffle was not the right part and it was a little too short. I used the original adapter that ended up making it long enough. Might rattle in the future though.

Sounds a lot tamer now.

Replaced the rear tire (Dunlop q2) & front (conti-motion) with a set of battlax bt016's. Went to a 180/55 on rear. Took her down & got her inspected.

Replaced battery in S1W. Battery was installed in 2000 at the factory (free:-)after the original little battery crapped out and the company that made them closed. I installed an East Penn battery. Hopefully it lasts half as long as the HD one did.

Repaired the latch on the S3T saddlebag. Should have gone for a ride but took the Corvette out instead. Wearing all the gear in 90*+ heat sucks

Rode 2500 miles from Home in Nevada, Up Hwy 101 along the coast of CA & OR.
Then completely around the Olympic peninsula in Washington state, via Hwy 101.
Back home via Hwy 97 and Hwy 395.
Wife on her 1997 S3 trike.
Me on my bagger 1998 S3.

Both outfitted with Ventura bags. YES they still make the racks for the S3!! They are great at a good price.

Finally got around to getting the S1 started. First time fired in years. Seems to be quite a bit of knocking coming from the rocker boxes. Makes me nervous.

Lifters will probably have drained down, so it will take a little bit for them to quiet. let run, maybe do a nice easy ride through the neighborhood or let it idle easy for a while and see if it fades.

I spy with my little eye......DAMN LOOK A BROKEN WIRE. After just limping it back to a gas station (2nd time)after feeling it cutting out I've had enough and decided to investigate why my low fuel light wasn't coming on anymore. I had already bought 2 of the sensors from Lance and got them today just incase. Sure as $hit it was a wire. From looking at some pics online I could see that the pump would have to be removed. Was about an hour job, the fuel is low now so hopefully the bulb will start glowing as it did in the past.

Four sets of Michelin Pilot Road 4 and they ALL have gone over 10,000 freeway miles.

Never have I had tires last more than 7,000 miles till now.

Brankin,
Check your ground where the battery cable from the battery connects to the frame. I had one break there years ago on the orange bike. It stuttered, the tack was wildly sweeping and generally running like crap.
Got it home with a ground made from a piece of 14 ga house wire that was happily on the side of the road where she died.
Easy fix by melting the solder out of the fitting and pushing a bit more wire in.

My 16 year old S3 has less than 3000 miles on it.
But it did only have 2000 miles on the clock when I bought it last year.

Its hard to believe someone would buy a motorcycle.
Finance the purchase.
Then never ride it.

I bought my 2000 S3T with right about 5k miles on it. Original tires, never had the 5k service. Several years later it has over 35k on it.

Now I'm looking for a Firebolt with ,low miles...

You sure you're setting them to "scary loose"? You should be able to touch the swing arm with the belt.
