where have you been mounting your remote reservoir? The line looks so long!! I have seen some mounted on the shifter side of the frame?... just wondering | ||

Yeah it can be adjusted a bit, make sure you set up the preload . | ||

I don't like all the SS strap that Mick's is showing. By the way, this is on the '99 X1 I own.  That long reservoir hose is a PITA, but know that it also gives you more volume so, in theory, should keep the internals cooler while riding aggressively. I disconnected my V&H and routed it to the backside of the front muffler mount. BUT, after riding for a couple of days, checked the hose and the vibration was cutting through the outer skin to the SS safety braiding inside. With that I added some bicycle inner tubing between the front muffler mount and the reservoir tubing at that point. So far so good  | ||

Here are the pics, one at a time!!!!! Here are the pics of my Penske shock, reservoir location, and routing of reservoir line. Note the bicycle inner tube packing at the forward muffler mount. Note: still need to spit shine and yes, that is Harley puke you noted on the header. Will be talking to Al at American Sport Bike to cure. And no, that is not an oil leak, I just changed the oil and haven't cleaned it since.  Sizing pics harder than I thought it would be. I took the voltage regulator and the muffler off to "dry mount" the reservoir in the position where I could adjust the compression as I traverse down the highway. If I come up with a better location for that reservoir line, I'll post it. Kinda of wish Penske would give us multiple length lines with a nitrogen charge can so once we have it where we want it, we connect THAT SIZE line and charge the system! Then we would ship back the unused lines. After a while of doing that, they poll the lines that are being used, make mounting recommendations to the end-user, and let's us novices have at it. Rant off! Another thing. I used a single tie-wrap around the bicycle inner tube packing to hold it in place snug up against BACKSIDE of the forward muffler mount. Sean, your profile pic fired me up. I too served in the USN aboard the L.Y. Spear, AS-36. out of Norfolk. Gone now, went to Brownsville for cutting. That ship was in excellent shape and only 24 years old when decommissioned. I seriously don't know what our leaders in USN and Congress are thinking these days. Excellent floating platform that can go anywhere and serve SSN/SSBN/Trident (sans the ICBM's). I think there are only two sub tenders left in the fleet now. Shame on them. | ||

I would say that I was probably bad luck for tenders and floating dry docks. Every time I was on one, it was decommissioned shortly after. As many times as I was on a tender, I always wanted a tour. We were usually so busy, that trying to ask for a tour while we were in maintenance was on the bottom of the "to do" list. I tip my hat of to all the tender guys and girls, they made my life much much better. | ||

I put heat shrink tube around the visible portion of my mounting clamps and the worm gear behind the tube, I think it cleans it up a bit. | ||

Here's mine on the S1W, on one of the front frame downtubes. I put a keychain ring through the adjuster on top so I can make adjustments on the fly with my left hand. As if I were a good enough rider to NEED on-the-fly adjustability.   | ||

One smooth radius right in front of the engine. Wrapped in cheap spiral plastic from the auto store for road debris. Check front tire for contact at full compression. Not touching the exhaust, the hose is pretty obedient as long as the ends are firmly attached. Best pictures I have right now. Jeff   | ||

IMO, the reservoir line showing on the header side messes up the lines of the bike. I like the gold colored compression knob and nitrogen cap. Did you try mounting reservoir between the horn and the battery? That would take up the slack I'll bet. Maybe even give you a clean shot behind the front muffler mount. | ||

That's his catch can by the air cleaner, made by Pegasus Racing. Look on the shock, the reservoir is mounted right on the front stock location. Looks like the early WP shock. | ||

well I finally got around to mounting mine.... Ended up machining some aluminum clamps, anodized them, and rubbed lined them so they dont scratch my frame or reservoir-    |
