Ok the Buell was sitting most of the summer while I did some long trips on the FJR and dual-sported on the XR. With the weather getting colder I want to get the Buell in top shape for the spring. I remember reading about various tools available to diagnose computer issues and even reset TPI at home -- I have a 2000 S3 -- was it ECMspy? |

Thanks Shawn-- So is it a program I can buy somewhere and install on my computer? Is it bike and ecm intake and exhaust specific? Do I need hardware as well? If I am already asking all of these questions does that mean an non-geek old guy like me can never learn how to use it use it? |

It was a free program at one time the only thing needed was the interface cable to connect your bike to a computer. The cables ran between $30 and $50 depending on demand at any time. I only use ECMSPY for basic diagnostics and adjustments. The day I putz with a fuel map will almost certainly be the end of my motor! That being said it is simple to load an unload different fuel maps into your ecm to tailor it to whatever hardware you have on your bike. Like I said, I keep it simple, check for trouble codes, TPS resets, the basics. It really is an invaluable to to have with our FI Buells. |

Last couple of times I ran her she ran great around town but stumbled and ran out of power on the highway --that being said my speedo was out --wondeing if the ecm inputs speed data as well -- and if a new speed sensor might solve the problem. If not I assume the ecmspy would let me know if another sensor is bad. Just drained and refueled and installed a new battery and ready to fire her up .. |

Is your air cleaner clogged with dust or dirt? A bike which works well at low to medium speeds will usually work at high speed if it is breathing well and has clean plugs. |
