Hi all,

I don't know what to do with my Buell. I have had it since 2005 it had 200 miles on it when I got it and it had been gently laid down on the right side. I got run off the road by an old lady and gently laid it down on the left side (mirror and shifter parts replaced).

It has 13860 miles on it and had it upgraded to the 2006 (I think) belt/pulley system. No other modifications except the the lights and fender elimination done by previous owner.

The only problems I have had is the light is out in the speedometer and it has developed a misfire over the last year or so. It is getting pretty bad and I only ride my KTM Duke now. It is still on the original spark plug which is likely the problem.

So what to do with it? I really am not into working on bikes anymore so I have tried to get a few shops to work on it and they have pretty much declined. I have found a local on Craigslist that will work on it. If I fix it up (fix the misfire and check it over) sell it, what should I expect to get for it? I would guess between $500-$1500?? No idea. Could I get more parting it out? Anybody want to buy it? NE Ohio area.

Thanks for any help/advise. Here are some pics:

That clean looking of a xb, I'd say $3k to $3500 if it's running right, maybe even more. I'd give you the $500 right now though, don't bother with fixing it.

I'd up it and give you $600 without fixing it.

Changing plugs is really nothing difficult and would be worth the hour to change them to increase the price. The instrument cluster lights are nothing to really waste time on and shouldn't really impact the price. I would change the plug wires too.

If plugs and wires don't fix it, then I'd predict something like leaking valve seals having wrecked things in the cylinders (like mine did) and it would only be worth about $2000 or $1500. The top end work will run almost $2000 if it happened to be in the same shape mine was in.

I don't know about current pricing. A local dealer had an 08 XB12Stt for sale all summer long. It had about 17K on the clock and they had an asking price of $3,900. I asked the shop owner about it a couple weeks back and he said people just won't even pay that price because of them being out of business. I just checked their website and it appears to be gone, so I guess someone bit on it, but the market around here seems really soft. I just don't know what to think about the value of my 06 XB12Ss with 50K on the clock. I guess I'll just keep riding it until it's used up. I'm good with that though.

Dennis ,come one man repair such a nice bike!

Some new spark plugs and cables and fresh fuel ,check the oil dipstick and tire pressure and go for a good long ride!

That's my advice.

Thanks for all the responses. I thought I would hear a few calls to part it out because a few of you might be looking for parts. But I don't want to do that to my friend.

I really love that bike and if I put it on ebay I would not want to sell it to a squid that would try to ride it without fixing the misfire (pulling into traffic and having a misfire can catch you off guard).

If I just turn this thread into an auction would that be bad (is there a for sale forum?)

EDIT: I have two friends who have asked me to let them know what I am going to do with it before I get rid of it ... I would let them bid but believe me they are not fakes to drive up the price.

Also, I have the pillion pegs and a 3-ring binder print out of the service manual.

There is a for sale section that you can use.

The chance of getting a squid on ebay is somewhat likely, and they will low ball you since it isn't running correctly and generally squids don't know how to fix anything.

I say auction over. Looks like I'm high bidder! I'll be sure to gas up the truck on my way home from work tomorrow. : )
