I think you just crack open the gauge cluster. Try a search here for gauge bulbs, and I believe someone had a set of instructions on how it comes apart. Didn't sound difficult, and I think the thread may have even had a source for different colors of bulbs....

The cluster does come apart easy, take a look at some pics I took when I took mine apart to install an voltmeter.

Question remains, as I didn't check, as to whats involved with switching those bulbs. I am pretty sure they are swappable, I know the dash backlight bulbs can be swapped.
