After many years of going back and forth on buying a bike, I finally pulled the trigger and got a 12Ss. I'm a new rider so I'm taking it really easy. I'm not out to impress anyone and I've got a lot of learning to do.

If it looks a little different it's because I have the Uly foot controls on it. It's really comfortable that way. I also had my original pipe ceramic coated, and I put Silverstar bulbs in. I should have some Darkhorse sliders on her this weekend.

Congrats. I really like the uly pegs. I've considered that for my Ss because of the cleaner passenger area, I'm just concerned how much lower they are and thus reducing the lean angle.

The Ss has 42 degrees and the Uly has 39 degrees. The Ss is lower though so I don't know how that affects lean angle.

Congrats on the new bike -- very nice look, love the ceramic coated pipes.

Take the riding course if you haven't already -- you will learn stuff there that you will not learn on your own or even from fellow riders -- the small stuff in particular, and it's the small stuff that gets you.

Ride safe!

Uly pegs? did not know they bolted on. does someone have a picture of the difference in foot position between R, S, and Uly pegs. I have been told there is an inch difference between the R and the S. but how about front to back?

The "S" and Uly pegs are about an inch lower than the r pegs. No real aft or forward difference.

I'll be taking the Rider's Edge course July 10, that was the first I could get into. Until then it's just around the block and in parking lots.

The Uly pegs are about the same as the S pegs, but the frame section they're mounted to is lower also. To make this work I had to get a new brake line and shifter linkage from the Uly as well.

Congratulations on your new bike.

You were very clever in selecting the model that I have always thought to be the "Best all around Buell" for your first bike.

Your mod.s look great, and your attitude about taking it easy at first and taking the rider's course also show very good judgment.

The Uly peg mounts really clean up the tailsection - I like it!

You made a great choice - especially with regards to taking the class.

Excellent! Any more info on the Uly footpeg conversion? I have been thinking seriously about it.

Just for clarity, there are the R bike pegs, which go straight out from the pivot.

Then there are the S bike pegs, which drop an inch or two from the pivot, then go out. These are popular pegs with other bikes as well, blackbird owners are having good luck with them as well.

Then there are the Uly assemblies. They use the S bike pegs, which drop down, but also change the whole plate that the pegs bolt onto. That drops them another inch or so over where the S pegs would go.

Near as I can figure anyway....

So how much did you have to change? Just get the two new plates and bolt everything over? Or did you need to change brake lines / controls / etc.

I'd love another inch or two on my 05 9sx... and I would love a parts list to see how much $$ it gets into.

I'll grab my parts sheet for this when I get home and post it. Off the top of my head I know I needed a new brake line.

OK, to do the Uly peg swap, you've got

Frame extensions
Pegs
Brake cylinder
Brake line
Shifter linkage
Shifter linkage bracket

The brake lever and shifter lever are different part numbers but they look to be the same length and could be reused.
