(design guru, Helmsley TT winner and street wheelie fan)

so lets see some, oh great guru.

this one is great...

all motorcyclist bow down you are in the presence of design royalty.

although after careful consideration, all i can say about your design is...

}The whole bike does not flow. The middle looks too heavy and deep from the chin spoiler to the top of the tank. The front looks to busy around the wheel yet empty around the bars. The rear looks detached from every other part of the machine. The leftover section of the swing arm looks clumsy from the left side in front of the rear wheel

Guys, all the modifications we do on our Buells are the owners own creation, and sometimes an extension of ones own personality. I personally admire anything someone takes the time to adjust to their satisfaction and out of respect never degrade someone else's creation. As I have said on here before during my 7 years on the BadWeb that it was Rockets S1 that attracted me to Buells. He has, in my opinion the best S1 anywhere. I wish I could admire it in person. Now before anyone else gets their drawers in a wad, that doesn't mean I don't like a whole bunch of the other ones, I enjoy all the Buells I see.
Rockets is just Bad-ass.

If it's got two wheels, an engine, handlebars & a place to put your feet it can't be that bad.

I'd ride it.

Then again, I'd ride any bike (even *gasp* scooters) because I'm just a motorcycle slut.

Rocket,

Sprechen Sie Deutsch? No?

Thank an American.

Whether you like it or not, more American blood has been spent in the defense of more outside countries than ANY other nation in history.

From a friend, you need to chill out!

or talk about crap like how many body bags your president can fill with good ole American boys before his end of term?
I would appreciate a little more respect. Body bags are not being filled with good ole American boys. You are talking about SOLDIERS, not boys.
MEN and WOMEN.
Men who recognize that there are things greater then themselves.
Men who have postponed or sacrificed their wants and dreams for what they perceive as the betterment of society.
Men who have left their families behind because they felt it was the RIGHT thing to do.
Men who were not blind to the danger they were placing themselves into.
Men who have done so willingly and boldly.
Men who have paid for that decision.
Men I have known.

Regardless of what you think about Bush, Iraq, of Iran... I would appreciate a little more respect for those we have lost. Just as I respect and appreciate the sacrifices made by our friends in the British Army.

Rocket, I usually defend you on all counts, but, you're getting semi out of line. Call it a sense of national pride. Every human has it for their own country. I guess it's the one thing that other countries will never understand about being American. Using words like Colonies makes us laugh. There's always this part of Americans that finds the British or English or whatever you call yourselves, kind of similar to us in a lot of ways. Right up to the point of outspoken-ness, and the ability to debate and have semi smart conversations. Then you guys use words like colonies and get all passionate about the 1962 Norton Slimline. Most of all, we just don't care. We like to get behind things American. You know, Buell, HD, Apple Pie, Covered Wagons, Cowboy Hats, Baseball, Football, Bob Dylan, The Eagles, our President (even when he's a total douche bag.) Honestly, we hear every day just how much of an idiot or which ever adjectives the rest of the country (USA) wants to use about him. But, when others bag on us, it just strikes a nerve.

It's like calling a man's wife a bitch in front of him. Even if she is acting like one. It's just a quick way to get the hair to stand up on a man's neck. I suppose we look at our country like we do our family. That's about the best way I can explain American National Pride. It not unique but, it's just a bit touchy for us.

You have Motorhead, we have Metallica. You have whatever fancy sports car you have. We have the Corvette. You have the Norton or BSA or whatever, and we have the HD, and Buell. Sure, would I like to own some classic British auto(mobile), or some classic rare british bike? Yeah, I guess. But, I'd love to have a mint 1964 & 1/2 Mustang. Or, any old mint Corvette. Hell, even a Roadrunner. What I'm getting at is, we like our "stuff." Even if our "stuff" is broken (our american political ambitions at the time) We may not be happy with it, but we still like what it and we stand for as Americans and what it means to be American.

I just hate how every time this becomes a motorcycle thread and someone is drowning in the shallow end of the pool, they start evoking the Iraq or Iran or Middle East or President Bush is an idiot line. I'm open for the debate. I am. But, come on.

Don't take it too personal Rocket. I still think you're a pretty alright dude. Just take it easy once in a while, won't ya?

Poor taste is American? Yeah, you better believe it, dude.

Have you ever seen some of our trailer courts? We have people building additions to mobile homes!! Yeah, poor taste is our Picasso, man.

By the way... I don't like that SS-Swing arm, either, but your going off is justified. Know why? No one likes to be bagged on. Just try to remember that.

Poor taste... I love it. Yeah, but we call it White Trash!

For the record,

I USED THE TERM COLONIES as a joke. Rocket didn't. There is no other nation on the plan with which the US has more in common than the UK.

To me, it's a reminder of just how much our two nations have in common.

funny how some guy's unique creation becomes the topic of such a heated discussion, about politics and pitting one country against another. And this happens every winter here?

Why can't we just let people do whatever they want to their bikes? They bought them after all.

It takes a small man to bash another man's creation. It takes a bigger, wiser man to appreciate he wanted to create something unique, and keep the bashing of his pride to one's self. I thought wisdom came with age. But then what do I know, I was in diapers when some of you were blah blah blah insert something here to make me feel young.

Oh great, and by posting this I'm going to get flamed. But I'll just keep my cool when whoever does does.

The unAmerican and 'no taste' comment were wind ups, which just goes to show I'm supposed to get your wonderful jibes at the British but you can't take Jack Shit when America's in the firing line.

I never ragged on the builder of that XB either. I said with calm and clarity in at least three posts what I thought about the bike. Not the builders engineering skills or competence as a mechanic. Not his personality either.

If that XB was a Honda some of you hypocritical bastards would be saying exactly what I am. Because it's a Buell we've all got to get down and worship? F*ck that. It's hideous and that's my lasting opinion.

And by the way, if some don't like my own Buell, you're not on your own. Every biking friend I have keeps asking when I'm going to get rid of the "pile of shit". So your comments, water off a ducks back.

Rocket, you shouldn't bloody care who likes or dislikes your bike.
It doesn't matter.
I could tell you that I like your bike but that doesn't matter either.
All that matters is that you like your bike.

I have people constantly telling me that I need to chop the cheese grater/pasta strainer off my bike.
But you know what? I like it. I'm keeping it. It's my bike and I like it as she is.
Those who don't like it are perfectly welcome to continue not liking it. Like you said, it's water off a duck's back. Quack Quack.

I believe in letting people do whatever the hell they want to do as long as no one gets hurt.
I believe I will continue doing whatever the hell I want to do so long as no one gets hurt.

To thine own self be true : )

Clinton,

I am going to give it a rest for the moment, at Bryan's request.

I am going to photograph it professionally in a couple of weeks when it is done, and will post a complete set then.

That way everyone will see more clearly exactly what Brian is attempting to create, with less misunderstandings.

i just appreciate some one that is willing to go after what they want to do, and make it happen.

i have some awesome ideas for mine, but i also like the setup i have now so i dont really want to lose that. if i ever get another xb rounded up again it will get alot of chopping and modifying done to some parts of it. or at some point i may just break down and do it to this one.

and for the record, i do like the bike. yes it needs a fair amount of finishing touches yet, but there is a hell of a start.
