Anyone use this bike luggage system on their XB9R? If so what do think?

Me and a couple friends used Nelson Rigg saddle and tank bags on our summer trip...They fit really good..were durable..several models to pick from..and the best price we could find...

I used the whole Vetura rack system on my XB12S. It works great.

Hey Rubberdown. I'd love to see some pics if you have any with the Ventura on the bike. The ones on the Ventura site aren;t that great.

Eor - obviously my typing skills could use some improvement...and if I knew how to edit the topic title I would fix it...But at least I will give everyone a good laugh at my expense

Rubberdown - Did installing it require any modifications to the Bike? How did it attach? does it look to be the same installation for both XB9S and the XB9R

I have it on my GSXR and my City Cross. Really works well! Too bad there isn't a GIVI mount for the Buells so I could use my GIVI hard top case that is lockable.

From our February 6th ride after meeting up at Michael's in Chapel Hill, here are the only pictures I have of Rubberdown's old XB12S with the Ventura rack system:

Yep, I do.

I have the 45 liter main pack as well
as the smaller 10 liter "sport" pack.

I commute 100 miles round trip a day
on my XB9R and it's great not to have
a sore neck/shoulders from a sling/backpack
after lanesplitting across 5 freeways to get
home. Plus, it holds a TON of stuff.

Installation was a breeze EXCEPT you have
to leave your passenger pegs on for it to
fit correctly.

An excellent value that I recommend.

I purchased mine from Al @ American Sport Bike.

I put the Ventura Rack on my 2003 XB9R and it is a very clean install. If you don't have the passenger footpegs installed you can use about 1/2" of washers for those bolts. The back took a little bit of modifying the brackets to make everything line up but I am very happy with the results. With the tail bag installed and the grab bar...it looks fine to me.

I just took the bike on an 1800 mile trip and provided you pack heavy stuff low and forward (so it is close to where you sit) the bike actually handles pretty good...almost better as there is some more weight on the back...

How about rain. Is it waterproof, or does it come with rain covers?

I think it comes with them (I know they're available at least). It looks to be one of the better designs, IMO. Especially as it keeps the luggage in place without shifting.

Rain covers are available separate. Straps for carrying the pack on your back are available separate. I had a Ventura on my 12S but I removed it. I didn't like having to karate chop my leg up & slip onto the bike sideways (crab style) between the airbox & huge pack. It is an awesome system if you have to carry a lot (I mean A LOT) of stuck. You can zip two bags together & double your capacity if you're riding solo. It is very sturdy.
I'm holding onto mine. I know someday I'll get to go on a road trip again & the Ventura will be the way to go.

Truk,

I have one that I purchased from American Sport Bike. It fits great and served me well on several road trips.
