I've got several on the way (black body, black knob), and we'll be honoring the GPR $100 off the kit price ($395) through the end of the month.

One of our local customers, Aaron Ashcroft, was one of the two testers for the units (GPR is an hour south of here, right on the San Diego/TJ border). He'd been having steering stability issues with his CR and was happy to report that the unit took care of it nicely. They did a little bit of tweaking to the unit so that the arm would fit nicely into the riser without being cocked.

That still looks like it would interfere with the Buell tankbag.

That looks good installed!

I'm glad I went with black on black because it looks like it flows real nice.

I just got mine today and can't wait to get it on.

Al,
I am looking to order the damper plus some additional stuff. A couple questions:

1. How do I capture the $100 Dec discount on the damper?
2. Do you have black footpegs that will fit on the passenger mounts of an 1125?

Thanks!

The website doesn't charge the card, and the discount will be applied on the invoice prior to shipping.

My bike was the demo for the GPR. Amazing difference. Powering out of corners is not an issue anymore. Speeds of 100+ not one shake. The photos on GPR's site are of my bike.

Al,

Order place. Please, by no means make any extra attempt to process my order so that it arrives by Christmas. Shipping to military APOs is already backed up and there is little chance it would get here in time, no matter your efforts. No worries on my part.
Happy Holidays!

Got a chance to go for a real ride today, and have to say this really makes the Buell feel much more stable. Somehow just massages/ties the whole feeling of the chassis response. "Transforms the bike" may be a bit strong, but not too far off. Get one.

Running setting at 12 clicks. Seems to work best. I am not a stunter, just an aggressive rider.

Regardless of the settings you read here, when you mount a new damper, ALWAYS set it to the lowest setting and bring it up a couple clicks at a time, while operating the bike slowly.

I know of folks that have had slow speed accidents on a motorcycle with a newly installed damper that is sett too high. A damper changes your balance steering input forces/rates, and at very slow speed, where balance depends on further movement of the bars, a damper turned up very far can cause you to be tipping over before you can save it.

I'm good at #3 or 4. I could see maybe you'd bump it up a bit for track time.

Great post, Al (regarding settings for the damper).

I used to race CMRA and we had removed the steering damper off of our GSXR to do some front end work. When we put it back on, someone turned the damper to the highest setting. When I went out for the first practice session, I thought something was drastically wrong with the front end due to the damper being way too stiff. I came back in, we turned it to the lowest setting and voila, we were back in business.

You guys think that a single bolt mount to the frame is sufficiently strong? XB version uses two bolt mount.

The XB version, both R and S models, use the same type single reaction post on ONE of the airbox screws. The length of the posts are differerent for each app, but the design is the same. It is less than ideal, but there are a number of these running out there and I haven't heard of issues.

The original GPR design didn't sleeve the airbox cover hole, and I have no doubt that plastic cold flow would have resulted in the screw losing preload and subsequent fatigue failure. I sure be checking the tightness of that bolt on occasion.

One of our local customers went down last week on his CR...violent tank slapper at about 70mph when merging onto the freeway. I think these are a very good thing...

Al,

Has the GPR design change? See this photo from GPR website, which show two bolt bracket (inverse U shape):

I'm not seeing what you're referring to. I think you might be misinterpreting the plastic "bezel" on the front of the XB airbox inlet for a piece of metal associated with the GPR reaction post. The only reaction point in that picture you posted is the single right side reaction post, held to the frame by one screw. AN 1125 airbox doesn't have an inlet there, and there isn't a "bezel" there.

Thanks Al. I thought that the black piece running across fuel cap was a mounting bracket.

I met the guys from GPR last year -- and since then have been talking to them about doing this.
They're ecstatic with the response they've gotten from us.
I examined the device closely, spoke to the engineer behind it and got the fun story of how the idea just "came to him" after a couple weeks of fruitless fiddling.
I ordered one, and I'll let y'all know how it works out on my radio show.
