Ok so I replaced the boot and changed the jets to a 45 and a 170 as recommended and I adjusted the primary chain. I took it for a test ride and I am getting flat spots in acceleration around 20-30 Mph. The bike seems to sputter and surge and then it evens out and does it slightly again around 40-50 Mph. Any recommendations of what to do next? |

Change the plug. I fouled mine just before I changed my jets. That could be what is starting to happen. |

The carb has been recently cleaned by HD but I am unsure about the needle. Which needle are you talking about, needle jet and needle jet holder or the jet needle in the slide? I sent you an e-mail about shimming the needle. Could this be a cause as well? Thank you. (Message edited by bluv21 on April 02, 2012) |

Thank you for all of the support EZ! On a related note for anyone who is interested. Lowes has good #4s brass washer for this application. They are sold in packs of 12 and thickness is pretty consistent (although I do not know what nominal is supposed to be). I measured the thicknesses of each washer and they ranged from .0235 to .025 so I took the two good .025 in. washers and lightly sanded the burs left from manufacturing. |
