Rode a hard 3 hours today. Got on the off ramp and only had 1st gear, no clutch. Luckily 1/2 mile home. Pissed off the cagers at 25 in first, but got there. Turn off bike, let it sit. All of the sudden everything works like normal. WTF. |

Check fluid level. Check primary chain adjustment. Check primary shoe condition. Check clutch cable for breakage or stray strands. |

Check that the spring that holds the lock nut on the clutch adjuster is there. I lost one once (there's a story here) on my M2 and had the same symptoms. |

I've heard of this happening with other Uly's when they are ridden using alot of clutching, like off road tedious riding, or even nasty stop n go. It seems the clutch fades due to heat or abuse. Then you let it sit and cool down and all is fine. I'm not sure, but I don't think the primary transmission on these motors were the best selection for an off-road adventure naked sport bike.......... |
