...I'm this close to pulling the trigger and getting a Ventura rack for my XB9R, and I've been finding packages for the bike that include all the hardware and one of Ventura's 45L bags.

The reason I'm finally breaking down and getting one is to make it easier on myself to haul around the crap I take along for work. I'm trying to give myself as few excuses to drive the car as possible. My full-out 'work gear' includes 2 8.5" x 11" x 3" ring binders stuffed full of paperwork and a fairly extensive assortment of electrical/wiring tools.

Those of you with this system/bags, do you think the 45L will hold this stuff? The binders are the primary concern, most of the tools can kinda get stuffed 'wherever'.

Rubberdown has one, believe me, you will be happy. Very solid in attachement, holds everything securely, shoot over to Carolina Corner Carvers adn rouse him up.

We have the 45L and 10L bag for the M2. We just purchased the framework and a 2nd 45L bag for the Uly. This will give Carlos the option to use both bags on either bike.

The opening up top is nice and wide, so I think you'll have no problem with putting two binders in a 45L ventura bag. You can also order a rain cover for the bags as well.

If I'm not mistaken, the new bags are now 51L. Check with Al or Joanne at American Sport Bike.

Thanks a lot - PM sent to Rubberdown for a little more info and I'll start shopping around in earnest.

I looked for the rack itself on American Sport Bike and couldn't seem to find it, only the bags and cover. >.< I'd prefer to get the entire thing from a sponsor if possible.

I've got a Tourmaster Cortech Tribag tail bag, but I can just barely fit everything I need for work inside. I'm looking at the Bags-Connection Racepak from Twisted Throttle.

http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/9 16/473/

A little pricey, but 42L, expandable to 60L, and it has it's own built in frame, so you don't have to mount something extra to your bike.

Interesting alternative, Swordsman...looks like it'd be a little more of a bear to just pick up off the bike and carry around with me, though.

How does it attach to the bike? Is it essentially just 'strapped' on around the tail section?

Oh, and BadS1 - I'd always just kind of assumed that the Ventura rack for the XBR/S used the passenger footpeg mounts, but that's just my assumption. There's got to be something closer to the tail for some additional strength, I'd think.

Sparky has a Ventura rack/bag for his 03 XB9R. You might PM him also.

I just spoke to Ventura's owner and designer on other business and asked him the question.

'Yeah easy'.

Here's the Ventura rack system with the 51L bag on American Sport Bike. I'm going to be buying this soon to compliment my Buell saddlebags.

I've used the full Ventura system on three bikes. You can pack a ton and with the storm cover it stays dry. Very secure. I don't think it look that great but its very functional. You can get shoulder straps to make the big bags into backpacks. The frame rails for an S install easily; for the R it's a little more work. However, the rails on an R follow the body contours better and look nicer. See the pic in my profile, the rails are on the bike.

I have the Ventura on my 12S and absolutely love it!
On the R model I think you need to relocate the turn signals but I could be wrong. On the S model there are no mods what-so-ever. It's a straight bolt on.

I run with the 35 liter bag all year long. It is so much nicer than lugging a backpack on my back.

Extra bonus:
If you use a rear stand, the ventura rack makes a most excellent grab bar for raising/lowering the bike securely : )

Thanks for the info, guys - especially you, Dave! Always great to get it right from the source.

Thanks to Sam for the link, too, no wonder I couldn't find it, I was searching for 'Ventura' and that's not in the item name anywhere.

As far as installing it, I've got no problems doing a little work to get it on there...bike's been dremeled and tinkered with plenty of times already. =D

I was on the phone to them anyway.

They are really cool guys at Ventura.

Modern factory in Hamilton - Small city/big country town an hour south of Auckland.

They make handlebars, the pack racks and some neat bike stands.

Also the Arai and Avon tyre distributors here - and others.

I do their adverts.

Darth, yes the Racepack just straps down like any other tail bag. As far as carrying it... I can't even see a handle on it, so yeah, could be tricky if you plan on lugging it very far.

EDIT: found it on another site that says it comes with a shoulder strap.

Hmm...one last question. This 'sport rack' for the Ventura - is that the small level rack that sticks off the back (similar to a top case rack)? Can you still use the large bag when you have the sport rack installed?

I think the Ventura is a better bet for me than the Racepack as I could still use my saddlebags with it if I ever needed some serious luggage capacity, and I think the Ventura will be better for daily use. Guess I'll be calling the fine folks over at American Sport Bike soon (I want to get it in time for the 25th, too) - and thank you to all of you for the info and suggestions!
