I know this has been discussed in the past and have reviewed their projects and threads, as well as the pro's and con's. I am debating on trying to tackle the project but was just curious if anyone had a "parts list" of what I would need. From what I understand it will greatly affect the handling characteristics but will (personally) improve the cosmetics. This is just an idea for now and figured I would bring it up to see if anything would re-surface. Thanks guys

I'd go ride something with a 240 on it, if you haven't already. I have...and they handle like dump trucks. If you AT ALL appreciate the handling of your X1...I would strongly recommend not doing it.

After a lap around the local twisties on my triumph the 170 or 180 on my Buell IS a "fat tire"!!!

If it were my bike......and it's not.... I would leave it alone and take the "mod money" and buy a bike that was produced with a fat tire...

These tube frame era bikes are crudely elegant in their own (beautifully so..!!!) and don't need the huge rear end to make a statement.... In my opinion!

In the end though.... Your bike bike, build it the way you want ..... I might recommend though keep parts to take it back stock!!

You ride the Twisted Sisters in Leakey and you want a fat tire? Me thinks you're crazy, but more power to ya : ). I wrecked my last S2 on 335 and I certainly didn't need a fatter tire to do it : p.

Thank guys, I really appreciate your input. I realize people have different opinions, and like I mentioned earlier, I understand this would have a negative outcome on the handling characteristics. I may even be frowned upon at gatherings with other Buellers. I guess Im stuck in 1995 listening to Nirvana haha.

-Keeping stock parts, good advice.

-If anybody has a parts list I would love to have a copy.

Phelan- Ive wrecked a 21 speed bicycle on 337...so I may wear a parachute if I decide to ride them with a 240 haha

i personally love fat tires, and would love a 240 tire on my X1, but i also love to ride twisty back roads so im sticking with my 180. Id still like to do it just to say i did but i already have a fun filled winter planned with some other mods and a 240 is not one of them. Plus i need to finish my mustang.
