I have had this piece in my garage for some time and I finally got around to installing it last night. It's not 100% what I want it to be, but closer than anything else I have had to date. I have always felt that the lines on the tubers with the later swingarm would flow nice with a piece like this. Now if I could reproduce this piece in metal I would be really happy!

I was thinking along the same lines.
I've been keeping an eye out for a 2000-vintage sportster cover.
You can wager there's extra meat to work with there!
How heavy is the stock sportster part? 18 pounds? LOL.

I have one of the sportster covers. I played with it for awhile, but there are a number of things to deal with.

1. There are no clean mounting surfaces for the two allen bolts that attach to the swingarm mount.

2. The sportster part had a mounting set up for the rear brake cyclinder that would need to be cleaned up and removed

I knew about the rear master cylinder mounting but thought the bolt holes lined up underneath.

Oh well. Thanks for saving me some time and money.

Not that I'd want it on mine, but that could look good if it were drilled full of holes, and the timing cover, instead of being cut down, were drilled in the same way. Would make an interesting combination possibly. Ala cafe racerish.

The pulley cover is bolted on where the swing arm support bracket fits into a form-fitted opening for it. Point being, it's pretty much 'fixed' into place. It looks like The Koz was either more lucky than I, or figured out a solution. I couldn't get the two edges to match up very good. But I left it on anyway, to me the mis-matched fit looks a little more "Harley".

It took me well over an hour of trimming, sanding, and filing before I got it into the right position.

Rocket- holes? Not unless I was going to hack the rear of the bike and lift the tail... Lol
