Need some info on 2002 S3T. Found one for sale local w/ 4800 miles and owner wants 5300. Were there any problems or recalls on this year? Was this a good year for the S3T. Looks to be in great shape with no mods and the large bags. Looking at getting another bike, my wife and son are wanting the blast.

Wanting to go faster? Don't you get enough of driving too fast at work?
The price sounds about right for the miles. I have a 2000 S3 that I've had to do upgrades to -- exhaust hangers -- oil pump primary tensioner. I think all of these bugs were worked out by 2002. Mine never ran right -- especially in hot weather -- until I installed the race ecm and some intake and exhaust. The factory pieces were there to satisfy federal noise regs and were never meant to stay there -- thats why the race kit was offered.

The 2002 is supposedly the best year. It'll already have the improved primary shoe, the 2001/2002 style shifter, and Y-type front exhaust mount that weren't on earlier tubers. There may be some recalls, but a Buell dealer will do them at no charge to you if they haven't already been done. Any Buell dealer can run the serial number and tell you if there are any outstanding recalls on the bike.

I say go for it! The 2002 won't need any recalls, just personalization and some maintenance may be due now that it's 5 years old. I am looking at S3Ts now myself, have an M2 now. Seems like around here they cost much more than X1 or M2 models, I guess cause of the bags, most of them here are running slightly more, like $5800 to $6200 asking prices.
So yours sounds like a pretty good deal to me already, most likely if you waved $5K in cash under his nose, he would come down at least that much too.
