I totally skipped reading the entire thread. What, when, where, how much, and do I need to buy rain gear or a tent?

Heads up...

Priceline.com is GREAT for low cost accommodations with short notice. Then you can just take a price acceptable to all those confirmed for travel and get a room close enough to the point of interest.

Other then that, I recommend Hampton Inn (there are plenty of them up there) or a new property called Hyatt Place. Great rooms (there are at least 3 of them between DC and the mountains of MD.)

But Priceline is great if you like rolling the dice or you don't have much to work with. Example, I once stayed at Hyatt Place in a Suite for $40!!! I have also stayed at a Econolodge for $35, so little differences in price can mean a world of difference in accommodations. I mean, with 3 or more guys, you're talking less then $10 a night.

Sounds like a plan...

This weekend is looking like uber-cold and a chance of snow in D.C. The following week is also looking cold, but weather.com only goes out to next Thursday...and Thurs (4 Feb) has a high of 41 and low of 32...will keep an eye on it...
