I am looking to see if anyone has done a fuel map for this setup,any advantage over stock map? I was going to get a modified muffler but decided not to because I do not want it any louder and I like how the exhaust servo works. The only thing I might consider doing is cutting the rear of the muffler open and changing the exhaust so I can have a dual outlet. Any advise welcomed.

Yea I have seen this and have listened to the audio ,sweet sound but I saw on another post about modified mufflers that he leaves the servo on but it is not used. I guess I could call him tomorrow and ask him about what he can do and still incorporate the servo. This was the muffler modification I was leaning too. Thanks,

I wouldn't use a map that someone else created. I've spent a lot of time tuning engines and I can tell you that no 2 setups will have the same maps. There are always differences even if you have the same parts. The only way to get a proper tune is to get a wideband and log all your data. It's a lot simpler than you would think. I just ordered the cable for my bike and I already have the wideband so I'm going to do mine.

The special ops pipe reuses the servo, just food for thought.

Also, don't bother with someone else's map. It can get you a rough approximation of what would work for your bike, but you can still get better results with a custom map.

That said, the "canned tune" industry for autos is booming. While it may not be the absolute perfect setup for your vehicle, it should still get the job done without any real risk.

There's no way of knowing if the canned tune or stock tune will perform better though. More than likely the stock tune will be leaner and will be faster. That will be tougher on the engine though.

There's a guy around here that used to modify ecms for cars and just throw more fuel across the board and call them race tunes. I would at least look at your stock tune and "race" tune before you burn it and use it.

LOL, yeah, my statement was assuming it's a REAL tune. For example, there's a company called Bamachips that provides tunes for Mustangs and Mopars. Bama is legitimate tuner, and has spent a lot of time and effort developing tunes for a ton of different possible setups, and thus they have a fantastic rep.

However, I was just using the canned tune as an example. If the OP finds a tune from someone that has his exact setup, it should work without any problems so long as the said tune was done correctly. No, it probably won't be dead perfect, but still good enough to incorporate.

Just got off of the phone with Randy at Hawk Performance. Great guy, he is sending me a modified muffler to try out. He explained his whole process, how he got there. Extremely knowledgeable and explained fully why he does not use the servo. Thanks Dean

I guess I'm more biased though. A lot of the work I've done is on turbo applications where it the tune is off the engine is going to blow. I would never send a customer or friend off with a tune that was "close" cause there was too much risk.
