I've done a few 500+ days on my Firebolt...the biggest thing that bothered me was my knees. That's why I've got a set of XB9S pegs in the garage.

...get off, walk around, stretch, use the bathroom and have a drink every 100 miles or so and it's all good.

My leather pants don't have any padding in the butt... what I think makes them comfortable (and the same goes for the bicycle shorts) is the tight fit. It squeezes everything together so it's harder for your pelvis bones to dig through to the seating surface, which keeps them from pinching nerves or blood vessles.

Whatever the science is, I know it works. Last year I did an 8 hour day just cruising around the Adirondack's in jeans and on the way home I was almost in tears because I wanted to get off the bike so bad.

It'll be 23 short years before I'm in the over 50 crowd, but I just ordered a pair of those shorts for myself. : )

Xl1200r makes a good point - all of my long riding days have been in my leathers. In addition to my rear end being happier, they don't flap in the breeze like jeans and make my legs itch! ; )

Spike,

I don't wear them every ride, just the ones I know I will exceed 200 miles in one day. Also, they have two types of pants; ones with the gel pad and ones without.

Along the lines of what Xl1200r mentioned, an athletic supporter is another piece of clothing that helps!

I have the crossroad bars on my bike and this riding position is a lean forward ride, and at 150 mile plus my clothing is “relaxed” and there is absolutely no support.

I am going to Sturgis this year, and MapQuest informs me that it is 1428 miles from San Diego. I don't want to wake up on day two and say a line out of Wild Hogs, “boy my ass is sore".

I will be wearing my supporter, bike pants with gel pad and leathers.

425 one time on my former city-X, that was 100 too much for me on that bike.

763 on the Uly coming back from Homecoming last year mostly on back roads. Took about 17 hours, of course I had to stop to rest a couple of times because I had broken ribs and sprained both ankles the day before.

I have done many days of 500 - 600 miles on the Uly and get up just to go ride the next morning. Love that '06 stock seat and so much room to move around.

I guess that I just never knew that an XB wasn't comfortable enough to ride any real distance on them...

There have been too many 600-900 mile days to remember. The only real mods made to my 9R, are "S" pegs and some Conti road Attacks. Other than that, I just ride her...

I will admit though; if I want to put any more miles on than that, the S2 is my weapon of choice!

700 miles in a day, 3000 in a five day period......and that was on a blast.

I'm leaving on Saturday for Melbourne, Fl from Ma. It'll be on the xb9s this time.

I did four or five 550+ mile trips on my CityX before I departed with her, Streetfighter seat, Crossroads bars, Progrip gel grips. That was just about my limit on it.

Just did about 350 miles round trip. I went to the beach, hung out for a couple of hours and came home. I did that on my Lightning Long (XB12Ss) with an XB12STT seat (also sold by Buell as a "Urban Assault Solo Seat").

My butt likes the wider stock seat, but my knees like the slightly taller solo seat. Either one, though, is so much better than any of the seats that came on my Japanese bikes.

So, whats the most miles you've put on your XB in one day?

770 miles on the XB, Denver-Sturgis-Denver same day
1008 miles on the Sportster, Calgary, AB to Denver in about 22 hours
5600 miles, 6 day on the Sporty on a road trip to Maine, the scenic route back

Best preparation is riding the bike all the time, then the long days don't seen so unusual. : )

1041 Miles - Dana Point, CA to Boulder, Colorado. 2007 Uly

The trip was a "stop only for gas" ride and took 19 hours. Were I to do it again I would not make the trip in July . . .the road from Lost Wages to Vail was somewhat warmish.

405 miles on Saturday. Did the 3 pass run here in western Washington. Consisted of Stevens, Blewett, and Snoqualmie mountain passes. Bone stock '04 12S. Great ride except the for the low seat I put on it, my butt was numb to say the least. Must add I was the only Buell in 165+ bikes.

I would do it again in a second. : ): )
