I didn't ask here, because I know we are all probably pretty damned bias for Buell's. I did ask on a sportbike board though.

Given my criteria, which I tried to keep unbiased and generic, there were very few suggestions on a bike that would suit me better.

I was pretty shocked, frankly. The 1125R is a great bike for me, but I wanted to be sure I wasn't missing something out there

Check out the responses, there's not many things people could even suggest

Yes, I would get rid of that dammed BUELL 1125R and get one those new EBR 1190s!!!

I was at the Triumph dealer yesterday, just poking around.

Similar, but different? 1198 or RC8
Unlimited Budget? Aprilia or EBR 1190
Something different? Daytona 675 R package.

Actually, my 1125 is a keeper; but that 1190 sure looks purty!

You kind of put huge limits on peoples choices/suggestions, and you steered them into the 1125 being the only bike for you...
Some tried regardless, and did a good job answering your question, even though every answer was going to be wrong...

like you I like the torque....wanted a sport touring bike - no chain was a reqmnt.
looked at R1100S and R1200S (the 1200 is tougher on the wrists)...some one on the Pelican parts board has both a 1125R and a 1200S - the owner sez the 1125 is very fast when compared to the Beemer.(win=1125R)
wanted a K1300S - test rode one - if you could afford it is a sweet ride and you get BMW warrantee (out here - down where I live we have two dealers about 10 miles apart...if it wasn't so $$$ the K1300s could of been a contender...but the 1125R works well for me even with it's list of problems (the K bikes have their issues too - if you ever ride north Chk out Bob's BMW in Maryland - seems like a dealer that understands the BMW brand and the people that enjoy it.) need to win the lottery and have a chance to enjoy both bikes!

I think the 1098/1198 or RC8 could have been contenders, but their smaller sizes, the higher maintenance on the Duc and the much greater prices would have ultimately knocked them out.

I'm just happy to see that I really am a happy camper with my 1125. That bike is built for me.

At 6'5" 325lb, I would seriously give a BMW K1300 a shot (especially since you're totally against a Hayabusa). Take one for a test ride, you might be pleasantly surprised.

With more than 100lb-ft of torque, it should be quite exhilarating. With all the electronic aids, you'd be instantly safer. It's got a 3-way catalytic converter, so no guilt over excessive CO or NOx emissions for which motorcycles are notorious.

Handling might be an issue (not 1125-like) but you won't know until you try.

My CDN$0.02.

I had a k1200r, the last gen of the k1300r.
The k1200 motor is strong, it has good low power, but hits like freight train in the high revs.
The bike was great, the tranny was the weak link on the k1200's, they fixed it on the 1300's and late model k1200's.
The K1200 and k1300 have electronic suspension, very nice if you have to go over rough roads and want comfort, then when u get to the twisties you can put it in sport and rail corners.
Go sit on a k1300s (its the full fairing brother of the k1300r), you won't be cramped on it.

Nothing really replaces the 1125/XB12R. They are unique and have features, and positives (as well as negatives) that it shares with any other sportbike.

The only solution is to buy a 2nd bike. : )

I agree with Rogue about ALL of the pluses and minuses.
As far as my personal pick, the Honda RC51 is an awesome bike. I've ridden a few and they are nothing short of amazing!

(they're no Buell though.....)

Loretta, my 08 1125R was my only bike for a couple of years.
We did OK, she toured, hit the mountains and commuted.
She's a tad over 28k miles now and sick. 115HP on the dyno...

I got an 09 Uly with 12k miles, May of 2010.
She has 27k now. 90 HP. : )

Life is good

Dunno
First look will be ECM/IC grounds and signal wiring.
Dyno run was very jittery even with level5 smoothing.

If no joy there, next best guess is throttle butterflies untied...

Something is definitely wrong, she has done 126-128 on 3 different dynos.
No difference in top end with OEM ECM, but 10 more HP in mid than EBR race...

Wow, how did you find an 1125R with so little mileage?

Congrats on your purchase... You're incorrigible!

The guy was a cruiser guy, friends with a Honda/Yamaha dealer

I guess he rode a couple times and parked it

The rear tire has like 4" chicken stripes. I'll post pics later, it's hilarious

Dean - nice looking headpipes.
Gotta get her back to running right with what's there now.
Took my Paramount(bicycle) to the shop yesterday, should get Loretta there this week.
Getting caught up on all the headwork Dan has for me so I hope to have time and a lift soon.

Sprintst - good catch!
You look like you're healed up pretty well, congrats on both fronts.

Since you got a bike with only 120 miles on it, I'm thinking it would be a good idea to get the EBR oiling rotor mod installed on that bike right away -- so that you can be the only guy on earth who has a 2009 bike that has had the oiling mod from the very beginning. That might make you the only guy who never has to worry about 2009 stators.

I was very concerned about buying a 2009 due to the stator issue

Bike has extended warranty until 2/2015

I also have the option of swapping the stator with my 2008, either before the insurance pays me, or after I purchase it as a salvage (assuming the price is right)

Then, there is the EBR fix.

I almost have too many options!
