Just picked up an 07 with 328 miles for the wife. I have ridden it 15-20 miles. Give the mileage and age I'm wondering if the carb needs cleaning. I have never ridden one before so I have nothing to compare it to. First gear seems to run out and break up about 35mph. Is it running out of gas, is that all there is or does it have a rev limiter? The engine doesn't sound to be wound too high at that speed.

It seems to be a little flat right off of idle. Nature of the beast or am I expecting too much?

It does seem to run a little better since I have been running it (just got it last night). I will probably add some fuel/cleaner treatment before I tear into it.

I see re-jetting mentioned a lot. Will that address some of the issues? If so what jets and where to get them?

I didn't get an owner's or service manual. Anything on line?

I saw something mentioned about a primary spacer that needs to removed at about 1000 miles. Where is this?

How much oil does it hold? I am going to change it just because of time.

DO NOT "CLEAN THE CARB". Almost always a bad and unnecessary idea. Now I've got that out of the way! If anything the slow jet will be clogged (and your changing that anyway).
The Blast has a rev limiter and it hits between 32-35mph (or 6500rpm).
Holds 2 quarts of oil. An oil change will use 1.5. Check when hot or it will read empty.
Jetting is 45/170. Its currently 42/170. Adjust the idle screw out 2 1/2 turns. That and break-in miles should get rid of the flat spot. If not, shim the needle. Remember, its almost brand new so dont do any radical changes to the jetting or carb.
The spacer is on the primary chain adjustment bolt next to the primary drain bolt. Repair manual calls for too tight a setting. Get few a more miles on it, then adjust per the manual going 8-12 flats instead of the 4-5 the book says. And/or learn the "by ear" method. Do them both and you cant get much closer an adjustment.

PS fwiw: remember its a single and 6000 rpm will sound like 3000 rpm on your twin. For me that took a small amount of getting adjusted too.
