My manifold boot is cracked ... I've already ordered a couple from the local Harley shop. Since the bike is just 8 years old with only 3,000 miles I assume I'll be replacing the rubber boot again. I found the same size rubber boot in a plumbing shop ... only the inside is smooth rather than shaped like the Buell boot. Has anybody tried the plumbing boot ??? Just cut it a bit shorter with a sharp knife ... http://www.underwaterwarehouse.com/images/categori es/C1156.jpg

Search Ebay for a SuperBoot by Dan. They are excellent.

Sorry guys ... hate to act the "smart a$$" as a newbie here ... but the parts from Harley will come in tomorrow ... I installed the rubber plumbing part this evening ... went for a short ride ... engine runs GREAT !!!

I will probably install the official Harley / Buell part when it arrives but it's great to know that if I were 1,000 miles from home and the "boot" died, I could go to any plumbing store and fix my bike. It's just a tube of rubber and two common radiator hose clamps ...

... and I really do appreciate the great advise here ... look forward to meeting some of you over coffee ( or some such beverage) ...

It would be just a matter of time - without the positive stops built into the coupler, it will vibrate - spitting the carb out - lol - the super boot is a modified stock boot, and a custom built clamp - all done by one good man - Dan - you can find them on Ebay - he does other stuff as well.

Cool - I love coffee!

Or worse, I bought my Blast w/ a radiator hose as a boot. It ended up warping the air box around the carb. Now I seal it up with small pieces of duct tape that I have to change every weekend.
I didn't want to ditch the stock air box put now I have to.

Dan's intake is nice, making your own pro-series is easy, if handy - aka - know how to use basic tools, then just buy Dan's boot. There are a few good options out there.
