BTW, it's wider than the stock 130's that came on H-D's, and virtually the same height as the original 120/80-16. (2mm taller by my calculations, but I don't know what rim width they were expecting.)
I mounted and installed the tire myself, and it went on like butter. (Easier than a V-rod...) -So dealer techs should have nothing to complain about, and YES, it FITS, and fits well. NO modifications!

P.S.: Still rides great.

Take that puppy thru some serious turns at a good speed and then let us know - please - my questions would be what it feels like when your at 45 degrees turning at about 45 miles an hour, and then switching back at the same in the other direction - transitions at speed is my question - if the tire is too big your going to get a squirley feeling - like your going over a bump but there isn't one from rubber deformation. My first swing arm hangs in my garage wall - a reminder of what too big rubber will do for you - lets just say I almost went down bad but caught it - more than once when I modified it to accept Avon's 140/80-16 rear with their 120/70-16 front - from what I gather from the experts you shouldn't go more than 10 over on a rim yet I've heard of a lot of people actually doing the low profile - and going twenty with mixed results - so I'm not really trying to knock the tire - though I have heard they are oilly when hot - that could have been older examples of the brand - these being newer? - do'nt know - run those puppies in the twisties at speed for a day and then let us know - otay? - Got Thump?! EZ- You bring up some very good points. I appreciate your input! I've never run Kendas before, so I have no bias towards or against. -Honestly, I saw it available, an jumped on it. I DID have our parts guy talk to a "tech" at Parts Unlimited, and the guy said it would fit. So here I am. I'll try and throw some pics up, to show wear and lean angle and whatnot.

OK, here's today ride: I went up Pine Mountain (Hwy 33) out of Ventura. Sarodude should know it. Anyway, I rode the same as when I had the stock tire, and to me, it felt the same. No squirrelies. 32psi front/ 34psi rear. Now, maybe the wider contact patch is making up for the less sticky tire... I dunno. Shapewise, it doesn't look or feel odd, if fact, it looks very natural. But looks aren't the same as performance, are they?
I'm actually wondering if Kenda made this tire for the Blast..?
I'd like to try the matching front, but mine is still so good, it'd be a shame to toss it. They feel very compatible with each other. (But that's just me.) I think Sarodude lives around me, and if he wants to, he could ride it and give a second opinion? TR

Dude! I meant Sunday. The Golden State Brag runs are Usually (99.9% of the time) on Sunday because some of the guys in the club are dealer employees, and we want them along. Meet up with us SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY.

Steve Slaughter usually posts the ride info in the SoCal Storm front section as soon as we know the details. I'm sorry about the confusion.

Golden State BRAG the last Sunday of the month

By the Way, there are always two blasters there, and there is at least 5 Blast riders in the group. (there'd be six if Saro would get off that darn Dyna :)) It's a long story...

Shweet! Looks like this will work. You can be expecting 2 more Blasts at Glendale on Sunday! Sounds like the perfect thing to do before my root canal on Monday!

140/70-16 TIRE UPDATE: Today on my way to breakfast, I guess I picked up a rock/something in the tread of the tire. It's pretty "chunky" tread, and it "drew" a line were it got caught between the tire and swingarm into the tread pattern. This is the only negative effect I have encountered thus far. I hope it's just a fluke, as there is a lot of construction on this street, and the roads are pretty torn up. I know that after riding all day Sunday, the tread was fine until today. It'll probably wear out of sight in a 1000 miles or so. (I hope.) This could be a problem: gravel/rocky roads & new tire. TR

I got my bike back from the dealer on Saturday with a new rear wheel. I'm real happy to have my baby back home.

When they mounted my old tire on my new wheel and balanced it, it took 2.25 oz. of lead to balance the wheel. Today, I had a new Avon mounted and it took 1.75 oz. to balance the wheel. It's kinda funky, my old wheel usually took .5-.75 oz. to balance. I guess that this wheel is not as well balanced from the get go. I just hope it goes the distance.

BTW, I got about 5500 miles out of the Avon before I felt I should replace it.

Well, Mark (carcass), and I met up at the Golden State Brag meeting. There were 6 Blast riders there of varying skill level. Marke's tire seemed to hold up just fine for the "spirited" riding pace of the group. All in all, I'd think that the tire is worth a look for those who want a "wider" rear tire.

No, I didn't ride it (niether did anyone else). I rode behind Mark for awhile, and his bike looked perfectly stable. The only thing I'd get from a short ride is either "this thing handles fine" or "this thing handles like $hit", and I'm telling you, Mark's bike handles fine with that tire. BTW, the treads on this thing are BEEFY It's almost like a Dual-Sport tire. I'm really waiting for Mark to put the 110/70 matching front on the bike, and then I'll want to hear his opinion on how it handles, and how it likes rain grooves. My experiences with tires with full circumference center groove is that they HATE rain grooves, but then again, if you don't have rain grooves in yoour area, it's a non-issue.

OK! Ordering one today! (If in stock..) The stock tire doesn't really like rain grooves, so hopefully the Kenda will be an improvement. I run Conti Blitz on my Triumph and Harley (full circumference center groove) and they don't argue with rain grooves, but the stock Dunlop on the Blast does. Go figure..?

JProvo- Sorry, I should have let you ride it! Duh! Next time, or some Sunday...
P.S.: Can't wait for your rearsets! I'm looking up the XB9 shifter right now. (At lunch)

140/70-16 Rear / 110/70-16 Front Tire Update: Rear is still good, front feels more "nimble" than stock. It doesn't feel like it tracks in the rain grooves any more than stock, either. It IS a little taller, and definitely wider. It measures 105mm wide, I believe it should be 110? This make me think the rim width may be too narrow for the tire. The outside curvature looks the same as the stock Dunlop, though. I parked my bike nose to nose with RJ's; he has stock tires, I really can't tell the difference in radius curve.
All in all it feels good and stable, with confidence when cornering. I'm going to trade bike on and off this weekend with RJ, and we'll collaborate our input in a later post.

P.S.: It looks cool, especially with the matching rear. (Looks like it should have looked from the factory.)

Ok, here we go, another Tire Update for ya:
From Ventura, went up 101 to 1 to Guadalupe, to 166 to 33 back to Ventura. 265 miles, lotsa twisties. I honestly can't tell the difference between the stock Dunlop front & Kenda 110/70-16 front. Now; the tread is thicker, but it feels like a stickier compound, so I don't know if mileage will be it's greatest (if not only) additional asset other than the cost differential.
I swapped bikes with RJ for a few miles, (stock tires) and he couldn't tell an obvious difference. He says he'd need to ride it longer... I feel a bit more grip on acceleration; no rear wheel chirps off the line, attributed to the rear tire. The front shows a little improvement when braking hard. (Wider contact patch?)

So here my conclusions:
IF you want a wider rear tire, the Kenda 140/70-16 is totally acceptable, if not preferred. Additionally, it works extremely well with the stock Dunlop front tire, as well as the matching Kenda 110/70-16 front. In other words, you don't need to purchase both tires at the same time. That stock front just lasts forever... I think the only benefits of the Kenda front are improved braking and water dispersion. -Mark

Other opinions are always welcomed. I'll post mileage and other incidentals once in a while.

In a few months I'll try them on my Red - the commuter and if they can hack some of SF's in town crazy stuff - when the Pirrelli's run down on the Black - only 2 grand to go! - and if I like how they do on the Red -they'll go to the Black as well! Really - Maxxis just came out with tire sizes for the Blast - their V-1 series - kevlarbelts, multi compound, reinforced beads, etc. - was just wondering where that stood - speed wise say versus the bolts tire's rating - just wondering? Got Thump?! Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ

Thanks for the info on the tire's. I'm thinking about giving the Dunlop GT 501 a try. I'll pick up a spare swingarm and have it converted so I can run a sportster rear wheel and chain drive. Just a thought. Might do it later on down the road.

Ahhh - interesting - this group of tires would have the highest speed rating of any tire ran on a Blast - hmmm think I'll keep an eye on it as a possible replacement! If anyones already running them - let me know!
