I'm 6'2 and am thinking about changing my 08 seat to the tall 06 seat. How are the 2 compared? |

Most people think so. Check out the pictures in this thread (scroll down a bit) for a comparison of the tall seat, 07-up standard seat, and the accessory low seat (same height, but slightly different shape and materials). http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/572539.html?1161372743 |

BTW- the newer tall seats (sold as an accessory starting in ~08) omitted some of the seams in the original tall seat and are supposed to be a little more comfortable because of that. |

I'm about 6'3" and 36" inseam. The seat on my 09 was not comfortable for me. I ordered the original 06 seat in the spring of 09 and am happy with it. It is taller, but worth the extra comfort. At the time I think it was about $110 from HD. |

I am just under 5'10" with 30-32" inseam and I find the tall seat way more comfortable than the one my '08 Ulysses came with. I use stock for short trips around town but for anything over an hour or two I put the tall one on. Sure I barely tippy-toe the bike but the comfort is worth it. |

37" inseam and have the tall seat and the precision engineering 2" drop foot pegs. Great combination for all day comfort! http://www.preeng.com/xcart/Billet-Ulysses-Footpeg s-2-Drop.html |

I have found my Uly handles much better with the tall seat for spirited mountain roads. It puts me more on top of the bike with more just a little more weight on the bars. Its plenty comfy for me but so is the shorter seat. If Im going for a longer 300+ mile slab ride I'll put on the shorty for a more kicked back position out of the freeway wind. Different seats make the bike really versatile. Give it a try. |

The tall seat wont roast your butt like low one will. 6'3 and I like mine better than the low seat. I can move forward and back a little more than on the low seat. |

Funny you should ask - I just took my first ride on my '08 XT with my new "tall" seat. I have the newer tall seat - the one without the seams in the thigh area. It wasn't a long ride because it started raining so I headed back home, but I was out for a couple of hours. My initial impression is that it is much more comfortable for me than the stock seat. Usually after riding for a couple of hours, my arse starts to feel the seat - not hurt, but I feel it. Today, nothing. Obviously, a longer ride will be necessary to see how it really is. One thing that I did note however, which is something I feared, is that my windshield setup (Madstad with 18" Madstad shield) is now too low for me. It was close to perfect before, but the extra inch and a half that the seat raises me up has messed with that... So now I'm thinking I may need a laminar lip to throw the air a bit over my head again... Trevor |

I have the Laminar Lip, Trevd, and really like it. I don't take it off and didn't screw it on. I use the Velcro dots they supply and if you don't take it on and off those suckers STICK!!! |

I have the 06 Tall Seat on my 08XT and will probably never put the stock seat back on unless I lose the Tall Seat: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/571909.html?1276467818 Thanks |

Man, I hope so too, Trevd! Make sure you clean the shield before putting on the 'dots' and those suckers will stick! I've had mine on for over 3-1/2 years and they are solid. I think I changed the location once or twice but I can't remember. Dr. Greg drilled holes and bolted his on with the screws they provide. He really likes the Lip as well and put one on his Multistrada. I believe he is 5'8" or so. I'm nervous now! I sure hope it works for you. Also, be sure, once you know where you like it, to put on the bumper they provide to keep the stock windshield from hitting the flyscreen because of the extra height of the Lip. PM me if you have any questions. |
