So I get 25 miles from home after getting the 06 Blast all legal and feel the crunch of a dying clutch cable. Nursed it home on TWO strands. So I call local HD that I bought it from,,,one week over $50 bucks. So searched around, found Motion Pro Terminator, ordered through the local bike accessory shop as they can get over night. Ok come in lay bike over to access cover after removing the foot peg setup. So new cable looked good, I really liked the look of the fittings, got into it and figured out how to turn the plate the cable is hooked to, didnt even drop the link. That came later. well as I was installing it the first time I let the plate slip(snap back and dropped link. Friend gave me cheap magnet and I finally got it all back together, for got spring had to pull cover back off. So after its all back together I try to go for ride, goes in gear but no move. OK so do i need to pull it back down and adjust clutch. I did notice having NO clutch cable free play. Or did when the plate snap back jam or break something. did figure out there is big spring in there when my finger got caught. But hadnt remembered the clutch adjustment part. Could that be my issue? |

If you dont have any freeplay, its certainly too tight. To state the obvious, i would go over every step in the "clutch adjustment" section in the manual, starting with putting slack in the cable, then pull the 3 bolt clutch cover, etc. I did buy a Motion Pro cable and it was too short. If you actually got it installed the clutch would always be disengaged with no freeplay whatsoever. |
