No. Abusers of that option will be exposed and severely ridiculed. |

LOL...ahh, the sound of intelligent conversation may once again reign supreme. ...and as someone with a younger sister who's both physically and mentally handicapped, add me to the list. It really burns me when people use them as the butt of jokes. I find the morons who should know better and yet insist on being so low far more worthy of ridicule. Now, what were we talking about again? |

>>>>420 are you resorting to threating people on the web???? The time he sent me the e-mail offering to come to my house, I forwarded it to New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer's Internet Crime group. Call me a bit antsy after having been gunned down with a Remington 1100 but I have a case number from the NYS AG's office and the FCC. Stupid is not a crime; threats are. |

Im having some friendly little bantering back & forth over bike topics..yea they may not be all 100% Buell topics but none the less they are still about bikes. Thanks for the kind words.... |

I shouldn't have posted what I did, but I did not expect it to strike that kind of nerve. I did not mean it to be mainly a personal attack, I was just trying to set a little broader perspective on the matter. I have a good friend, now deceased, who lived in my neighborhood and fought his entire life against all sorts of mental and physical disabilities. http://www.enquirer.com/editions/2003/07/17/loc_ledeobit17.1.html I can't begin to describe the respect I have for Matt, nor the richness knowing him brought me. So those pictures above were "dissing a friend". In hindsight, I should have just celebrated Matt and left others peoples behaviors out of it. I could have made the same (or stronger) positive point without the negative. I have another dear friend that has just destroyed his family due to self indulgent and chemically dependent behavior, is on a very fast track to destroy himself, and I pray to God frequently that he will not destroy any more innocent lives. It's an area where I am a little thin skinned myself right now. Regardless, I was not "walking towards the light", so I apologize that I was part of something that lowered the quality of community here on badweb. (and I am WAAAY off topic ) |

I think everyone needs to relax alittle. We all have different opinions about stuff but in the end we`re all Buell enthusiasts and we should treat everyone on this board as friends. |

Wow the teacher leaves the classroom for a little bit and the students just get out of control.. lol... Okay.. we talked about getting the MPH up, we talked about getting from 0-100 the fastest. Let's do this. What are the advantages to increasing the horse power of the bike? I'll put this in computer terms: Some people buy a low end processor and over-clock it to high end processor speeds. In some cases, you only get a 2% increase. In other cases you can get a 30% increase, but at the expense of destroying the processor. The questions... What mods give you the best bang for the buck? Let's start with the three we know of and go from there. 1) Race ECM 2) Race filter 3) Muffler Next... question seems like a lot of dynos and mods (Stack) for the 9rs. Is this to get them to 12r specs? Can the same mods be done for the 12r with better results? I for one do not have 10k to throw into this bike. What I do want, is to spend a small amount of cash that's going to yield the best results. So... Price vs. Performance Have at it gents |

Intake is important as well. Reducing weight is another one (one of the most important IMO, way higher than more power). |

Let's say I got hmmmm $2,000. 1) Race ECM done, 2) Filter Done 3) Pipe when it get's here, done. What would be next? I am reducing weight by replacing most of the plastics with carbon fiber.

Don't take this offensively but saving weight????I know the carbon fiber looks awesome but if you have 2G to burn on your bike put it into the motor and how much do you weigh????Cause if you lost 10 lbs. that would be almost more then you'd ever save by putting carbon fiber on. |

Carbon fiber is done already. The 2 grand would be for motor only or what ever else if gonna generate some speed. |

Well, I'll tell you out of all the factory bolt on mods for the 12, the single part that provides the greatest improvement in performance is the K&N air cleaner. And it's the cheapest part to buy. I mean it, we (the mechanic and I) tried every configuration of the stock and race kit. So at the end of the day, there wasn't really that much gain in the race kit muffler, and some of you will know how disgusted in the race ECM I am, the bike was worse with it installed. Now, the issue of the capabilities of the stock ECM. Well, I've heard claims the stock ECM will lean a bike out up high. So, why is it my mates tell me they can smell fumes from my 12 when they are following me and I'm having a red hot go?? Sounds to me like it's rich, no??? But then, there were those who were saying you could cut your muffler open and shorten the internals by cutting the final pipe... Why, when on the 12 you have a vavle that does that for you?? All you have to do is take 10 minutes out of your day, pull off the air box cover, disconect the actuator cable that goes to the muffler and zippy tie it to one of the eyelets on the servo, thus opening the valve permanently. It won't make your bike any faster but it will sound better... Notice I said "better" not cool. If you want it to sound it's best, a muffler that's packed is the go. I even suspect that may be why my bike is a little on the rich side up high, since the muffler is shorter. Better than being lean, tho, like some say they (12's) are. There even may be an opportunity for me to line up against another 12 that is fully race kitted. If I tee that up, i will post details here. I will suggest, though, that there will be little difference simply due to the amount of testing I have done along side my mechanic. $2000?? I'm assuming you are talking US dollars?? For that much Aus dollars, I would be setting up fully programable aftermarket fuel injection (heaps of gain to be made)and looking at suspension upgrades. For $2000 US you should be laughing. You all talk about engine and exhaust mods all day here, but how many replies to a post (Ok, one i made) requesting help with the suspension?? http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/32777/66414.html?1090566234 Setting up you suspension properly can be worth 10% more power, given that the Buell has fully adjustable F&R, wouldn't this free set-up warrant more attention?? Comments?? Anyone?? |

Oh, and as for exhaust, a drummer will kill me in price with the aus/us dollar exchange rates, customs and taxes, so I can't really consider that option. Not only that, but I'd have to try to buy a muffler in the states and have it shipped to Bubba or Kevin direct. Imagine how easy it would be to be conned in that situation (not refering to Bubba or Kevin, you guy have accomodated all my queries the best you could, thanks). So I'll have to set up my own. We can't get Jardine, Wileyco or Force (not that i want to be that loud) here. Staintune is an Aussie company, but they aren't interested yet. I even offered my bike to them (pretty valient, I thought, since they are 2,500k's away) for testing. My next option is to get some guy I never met to build a one off that may not work for $600, when I can buy a pollished SS muffler for $200 and weld up some mandrel bends. So, if anyone has any info on the measurements (particularly pipe diameters) that would help in my silencer selection, feel free to send them to me. My email is in my profile. |
