Maybe so, but IMO your engine isn't worth seeing (are you low on oil btw?  ). I don't mean to flame or anything by that... really. It's just my opinion. There are no beautiful gold pipes... No fins... It's black... It's got big assed radiators in front of it... It's not my style. The fact is though, There's a WHOLE lot more fairing there than on my 12R. The main part that turns me off is the part in the front that runs up to the upper fairing (that you didn't get in that pic...). It hides the front of the engine. I do believe that out of all the kawizukiondazamahis out there the R1 is one of the better looking ones, but it's no 12R caliber head turner by any means. Anyway... What bikes SHOULD the XB's be compared to? Duck Monsters only? | ||

Your comparison sucks... Get pics from a front 3/4 view. Viewing the right side preferably. You're only missing the head on one cyl. and the back of the head on the other cyl... I'd say you can see at least 75% or better of the engine, and that doesn't account for the front view where the rice bikes have big ugly fairings. | ||

Damn hate to say it but I got a friend that own's a 999S,RC51,2 custom's and 4 HD's,Kuadette there are guy's out there that like both sides.Remember Dyna own's both HD and sportbike. | ||

Back to the class discussion.... I stopped looking at the SuperChicken early on in my bike search. It's a similar size engine and the hawk can sound great with the right pipes, but it's not like a monster 900 or XB. The fuel thing sucks, and I think they're pretty ugly with a sort of half a$$ed fairing that looks incomplete. If you want to list all the V-twins you need to include the TL1000 that turned into the SV1000. But those are so much faster (and heavier) I wouldn't put them in a class with the XB either, unless it was a DOHC XB9 or XB10...as discussed in other threads. I stick with the monster 900 being the only real competition, which makes sense because a friend with a Monster 900 who claims it's his "perfect bike" would only look at the XB9 as an alternative. | ||

Who here bought their Buell so that they could compete against the might of the Jap bikes? If you did, you made a mistake. My S2 is under powered compared to damn near everything. However, I love my bike. I am no where near riding to it's limits. Many people come up to me and tell me what a beautiful machine it is, or request a wheelie. Just enjoy the ride, Buell or other wise. Take care, be safe.  | ||

My two shinning moments on my S3T - smoking a Yamaha YZF at Gateway's 1/4 mi. Same guy, about 6 weeks apart. Once stock and once with mods (pipe, air cleaner mods, etc). Passed my share of crotch rockets in CLASS at Road America too (in the corners, not the straights  ) | ||

That puts my lowly 1997 Buell Cyclone even with your 2004 Yamaha R1 in track challenges. Sounds good to me. You have a racing license? Or are you just talking about running times laps? Dyna, Seriously, for quite a while now I have noticed that just about every post that you make is in some way trying to prove that your R1 is better than a Buell. It isn't, it is just different. They are sweet bikes and no one here is saying any different. To say that your (run-of-the-mill) R1 turns more heads than an XB is just COMPLETELY ridiculous! Honestly, if I were buying an IL4 it would probably be an R1. Just please understand that I would never trade my XB for one, I wouldn't even consider it. You have a sweet bike, enjoy it and please stop this on-going (and pointless) competition. | ||
