Just purchased a blast with 11000 miles , about 1/2 the time when staring out from a stop I hear a loud clunk, I can't find anything loose , check the belt tension and there are a couple spots with more than an inch play, could the drive belt be slipping causing a clunk? any advise what to look for |

Welcome! Its in the transmission and my guess would be it happens mostly when the bike is cold. Make sure the clutch, clutch cable and primary chain are adjusted properly. Switch to synthetic in the trans/primary. If that doesnt solve the problem, then a shifter pawl adjustment would be next (a little more involved). If that doesnt solve it, then its time to pull the transmission apart (which you dont want to do). Its a very common problem and most just learn to live with it as it usually happens only when its cold. But definitely make sure all the clutch and primary adjustments are done and change the trans/primary fluid to synthetic. |

Thank you for the information, I adjusted the clutch and primary, I will change the trans/primary fluid and see what happens, what exactly is it that is making the noise? |

The trans gears arent completely meshed, They've caught and the secondary clunk is them sliding fully together. |

Samcousa, You need to adjust the primary chain first, then do the clutch adjustment. You will notice improved shifting with a 20W-50 full synthetic motor oil in the transmission. Good luck |
