So I was riding down the highway a few days ago. I pulled the front end up for a few sat it back down and the speedo quit working. The miles and Trip still show but do not change and the speedo does not work at all and all lights still work... WTF and what should I do first? I checked the speedo sensor and it was dirty but not cracked so I cleaned it. still nothing... |

I believe you need a new speedo sensor. Same happened to me. If cleaning doesn't do anything it's junk. |

Well I replaced the speed sensor. problem solved. I figured that was what it was but I decided to get some second opinions. |

Common problem usually cause voltage spikes from the junk voltage regulators that come with HD motors. Cycle Electric makes high quality regulators that resolve this issue. http://cycleelectricinc.com/ |

the new sensors are updated 5v regulated unlike the old. I haven't heard of any issues with the new sensors but I'm always open to better replacement components so I'll take note of that one. |

I replaced my speed sensor over the summer and now the speedometer will flutter a little bit and I notice under heavy throttle or 4k+ rpms that the speed doesn't seem to be correct. At 4k I usually am doing 80, 45 usually sitting around 90, and 5k I am around 100, and the bike runs out of steam at around 120mph, but sometimes it doesn't seem to read that even though the revs are where they should be. Any ideas what is going on here? |

clean the tip of the sensor. It's likely collected some metal shavings. |

the 99 m2 speedo sensors died from picking up RF some where in the KV some one came up with a RF choke to install in the sensor harness. I didnt do it I had already installed a front wheel 98 speedo. My electronic speedo died every time I rode past the MRI center leaky RF sheilding on the Old GE MRI trailers |
