Just ordered the kit through the dealer as it's a warranty issue. Back ordred until 9-30-10. Hope the leak doesn't get worse or I'll be a little PO'd.

Like I said the seal I got coming are not gonna be a cure all but I am sure the new kits are not either it is poorly designed IMHO. But the seal replacement takes 20 min if you work clean

Went on a 300 mile ride yesterday which included some of the Loess Hills of western Iowa, had a great time and no problems at all, in fact no problems in the 6,100 miles I now have on the CR. Well this morning I went out to the shop and I see a nice puddle of brake fluid on the floor right under the clutch servo, DAMM I thought I might get away without having to do the clutch fix. Sometimes you get the bear & sometimes the bear gets you.

I had a constant dribble for a year and a half, finally got "The Fix" aka X2086.1AM last February and not a drop lost since.
25k miles total, 12-13k since the kit was installed.
It's a good fix.

1125chick,

I don't believe there was ever a recall on the clutch leak, only a warranty repair. Zack has the number of "The Fix" above.

Sorry for my earlier comment. It was not my intent to insult you or make light of your clutch leak.

@Black, thank you for being a gentleman and taking the time to post. My rant about the clutch wasn't intended to offend anyone either. My 1125 is my third Buell and fourth bike. I get brand passion.

Reiterating a fellow poster several posts ago, many of us are PO'd because our warranties are out and our clutch fluid didn't leak until now. With this many reported clutch problems, this should be a safety recall not a warranty claim. This is a state of the art production bike and I guess my expectations were too high.

I'm still waiting to hear back from Woodstock HD. I'm down two weeks now without my bike and this is the fourth time my bike has been out of commission and sitting at the dealer.

Bottom line, at the end of a stressful work day, it's a bitter pill to swallow to be fully geared and be denied.....
Peace...

I had them made I am trying to get more now also in contact with Merkel fruedenberg who makes the actual seals. I went with a VITON they called it I believe better heat tolerance but only good to 2500 psi but our machines only generate about 35psi on the slave cyl. and the vacuum side.
I ran the bike rode about 1 mile shut her down checked it it was fine put some cardboard under it will check in the AM. And run a 50 mile loop tomorrow just ran out of time today.
IMPORTANT############
I thought about something today after seeing how the thing is designed if your clutch weeps outside it weeps inside too!!!!!! If your weep has been going on awhile you may want to pull the cover and clean the fluid off the diaphram so it doesn't cause your diaphram to fail or worse leak into the crankcase(not sure if it would but better safe than sorry).
If you do try to clean it yourself please be careful the diaphram is tricky to remove from the cover just go slow and steady DO NOT RUSH

Brumbear - Are the seals you had made for the original style clutch cover or a later revision?

At 6700 miles, mine has started to weep.

Some have had just the seals replaced and it leaked again, but those that had the complete kit installed, have had thousands of trouble free miles. Over 10,000 miles without a leak is not a cure all? Maybe not, but it's pretty close to me.

I got the call from my dealer that my bike is fixed and ready to be picked up. They installed the clutch repair kit and a new rear blinker. I will post up once I get a chance to put some miles on old girl.

I don't get your point I can't get the update till end sept and then I'll let them do it the only change in the updated version is the cup is now annodized. I was under the impression that even the updated version were failing anyway. I just had the seals made cause I didn't want to ride my bike with fluid going into the diaphram chamber for 2 months if I could help it and you know what I could help it and I did.
It cost me all of 15$ dollars each seal to do it . I just was passing on info for those who might want to try it if you want to wait till end sept go ahead knock yourself out.

Brumbear - when you say "seals", are you referring to the piston o-ring, spherical nut o-ring and plug o-ring?

I had heard mixed things, too, but Zack kinda seals it for me (no pun intended)--- the fix must be good.

Chessm, do you know for a fact they installed the complete kit? Some dealers are installing just seals.

D_adams has 10k on the fix, for the record.

OK so my clutch weep is now non exsistant the only problem I seem to be having is the seals I had made are a bit to good or my spring is week every once in a while the clutch hangs if you will I am gonna bleed it again but I don't think thats the issue. It seems either the spring has weekened as I remember it happening once before before I did the seal change. It didn't engage right away when I released the lever.

Btw, I think it was in 4 times for the clutch on mine. Rev A through C, had Rev B done twice in less than a month, I think it might have started squirting fluid the following week after repairs both times, Rev C came out a week after I got it back the 3rd time and it was spraying all over by then. I think I lost at LEAST 2.5 months of ride time last year from that one alone.

I started riding in Feb this year to make up for it, it was pretty damn cold (26 F) without any heated gear.

Need to replace the clutch cover case. I ground it down a little last week, did a corner a little too fast front end went out. Is this a quick ship item. then the clutch stared to leak about two days later

Rrs - sounds like you are in a similar boat as I. I had a Rev A cover that surprisingly was not leaking at all. Had a low side and now I want to replace the cover to ward off any non-warranty/damage claims for future clutch weep issues. If I replace the cover the Service Manual indicates that the 2 piston seals, 2 sleeve seals and spherical nut seal need to be replaced as well. So... not really interested in spending $500+ on my dime for the cover and rebuild kit, but would rather replace the cover and only the 5 seals per the SM requirements for a few hundred less.
Can anybody help with the following:

Q1) Can Rev A covers still be ordered or are they superseded by Rev B (or Rev C???)

Q2) will my original sleeve and piston work in a Rev B cover?

Q3)I got the impression that the piston, sleeve, and seals all went through revisions, so can I mix/match new seals with old sleeve/piston or do they go as matched sets?

How would you get going from a stop sans clutch? Neutral -> First, give it some gas? Sounds rough...

The two times my clutch piston/gasket went out it was while riding; once while riding 2-up with my wife. Both times, I was able to get the bike into Neutral when coasting if I had to stop, then pump the lever several times to build up just enough pressure to slip it in to gear, then I'd clutchlessly shift the rest of the time.

Definitely not fun, but an interesting challenge.

If you have NO clutch, duck-waddle the bike until you have a little speed and kick it into first.
Throttle - back off - shift , to desired speed.

This trans is VERY smooth sans-clutch, up AND down.
Use some finesse, it's all good.

Z

With some practice, you can slow down, snick it into neutral and pick 1st back up without stopping.

I agree with Zac... It's very easy to shift this bike without the clutch. Much easier than doing so on the V-Rod!
