Noticed that TH has a air scoop that fits on the RIGHT side of the XB and directs air to back cylinder. Not sure how that would look but it would perhaps keep that stupid fan from running. Anyone out there have one. Ditto TH has mirrors for the XB that they say you can actually use, ie you can see behind you (that would be novel, no?). Anyone have these and do they work? Thanks

I have bar end mirrors as well. I like them, they where about $30.00 a piece. Not the best value, but you can see out of them and look better than the lollipop mirrors. I would love to do one of the cheese grater eliminators that you see on the Trojan website, any one done one of these...and experience ordering and having items shipped overseas? |

Get the CRG bar end mirrors. They are pricey but there are none better. |

Nothing's going to keep the fan from running, only perhaps keep it from running as much. ...never had much of a problem with my stock mirrors, but then I'm not a very wide person! |

I don't mind the fan running but I would like a set of ducts that keeps it from blowing on the backs of my legs. |

"Nothing's going to keep the fan from running, only perhaps keep it from running as much. " I guess I don't understand your comment. My fan does not always come on at the end of a ride, esp on cooler days. My understanding is that if the back cylinder got more air/cooling, the thermostatic control would not activate the fan. Only as needed I believe.

Anyone have the scoop? Will heat from the head pipe damage it? |

Both the left side scoop and the plastic piece on the right side direct air onto the cylinders. The Trojan Horse right side scoop seems like it would provide better cooling, at the very least it would add some symmetry. My fan comes on every time I stop if I have ridden enough to get it to operating temperature. That's even when I have ridden on 35 to 40 deg. days. If I take a quick trip to the gas station three miles away on a cool day, it won't come on. I would like to see them make a smaller scoop to replace the big, heavy stock one. Maybe use a piece like the one on the right side and have a small scoop fit up into the air intake somehow and make it small enough so it doesn't protrude beyond the frame like the stock one. I switched to a set of '04 mirrors because I really don't like bar end mirrors. It's like night and day. You can actually see behind you without any effort. They are also pretty cheap at $47 per pair. Mike. edited by xb9er on May 24, 2004 |

Dude, Go to a mountain bike shop or a sporting goods store that sells bikes(REI, EMS) and buy a Third Eye bar end mirror for $13.99. Works awsome on my 9s. Have about 600 miles on it and it hasn't budged. Make sure you put some RTV or silicone on the threads of the pin that the mirror pivots on to prevent it from possibly vibrating loose. For 14 bucks you can't beat it. |

Bar end mirrors from www.americansportbike.com on my 9S They also fold in for tight parking or moving around the garage. Don't vibrate either, and you can actually see whats behind you. Just have to get used to looking downward at the mirror. |

Firstly,I apologise for the poor picture quality.....But this is a r/hand side air-scoop from Trojan horse & fitted to a 9s. The quality of the glass fibre version was'nt 100% and it needed alittle attention before being sprayed! I understand the carbon version are a much better quality.

Has this scoop had an impact on engine cooling, ie does your fan run less either while riding or after you shut down?

I can't comment further on the r/hand side air-scoop because it's not fitted to my bike. But I will make enquirys with the owner on Friday as I'm going to meet him to have my TPS checked. |

see these mirrors for dirt squirters.... http://www.dual-star.com/index2/Equipment/adjustable_mirror1.htm I have used them on dirt bikes before and can really swear to their construction. I'm using dirt bike bars that are heaps wider than the stock ones and these mirrors are great 'cos they don't make your bike any wider... |

wouldn't your arms block the view? Those would be very cool if they could be fit. |
