Keep in mind that the 17 HP gain was with a K&N added at the same time. The other line on the dyno sheet shows what just the pipe netted, 11 HP. With the addition of the free flowing filter 17 HP was gained (we all know a filter alone does not gain 6 hp).

Edmbueller, is that painted black, or powder coated?

I can definitely say that 15+ hp is available from just a pipe & K&N filter, but I don't have the facilities to produce more than 1 or 2 pipes a week. There's some math involved in sorting out how to make a pipe work and get gains. I thought I had it on the first try but didn't, although by the 3rd one, it's there. The gains I got wasn't at peak rpm, so there's probably more to be had. I would imagine the best one out there for power is going to be the full race system with a filter and tuned ecm, but for just throwing on a pipe and filter with no tuning and get 15+ hp, yes, it can be done and it's up to each person to decide how much they want to spend to get it and what it looks like. That's not to say they're all going to gain 15 or 17 hp every time either, as each bike is different.

That is the truth. It is amazing on how one part will work well on one bike but not another. I have seen it on side by side bikes.

Thanks Edm and very nice. It works perfect on your bike, the tip is reminiscent of the short stacks on those Merlin V12's.

Edm, is that the original collector pipe finish or did you have barkers ceramic coat it or anything? Also is that the tip which comes with the black option from barkers online? I thought it said it was aluminum...sorry for all the questions, just curious and close to ordering one....

Craig - I ordered the black can from barkers, the tip is just the standard option - its the same color as the mid pipe..

Jules - I found your youtube vids. I think they help cement my decision in ordering this pipe. I already ordered it... and it makes me happier that I did. Sounds great!

For those of you fretting the mid-pipe, do what RT Performance did. Clean your header pipes with emery cloth and polish them. They will shine pretty and then when you heat soak them, they will turn a nice amber to match the midpipe. RT's has a perfect match between headers and midpipe. It looks fantastic.

If I go the Barkers route, I will probably have the headers and midpipe ceramic coated anyway.

For the Barker owners: Does the slip on only use one mounting point you can see, or is there another near the headers? Easy install?

Just the one mounting point around the can as far as I know. I just got mine today and am installing this evening. The thing barely weighs anything so the one clamp around the can and the clamps on the header collector are fine for support.

Talk to Puzzled fitz. I ordered mine the 12th, shipped on the 17th, and got here today (22nd). Sounds like Tim's about a week out for shipping right now. I'm in MD.

Yes it#s just the one mounting point and the bracket is a thing of beauty too... Make sure you spread it before sliding it over the can or you'll scratch it.. I used the space that was on the OEM muffler mount to keet it apart as I slid it over.

DO NOT let your moronic "friend" help you or it'll end up scratched. DAMHIK..

It took about 30 mins to get the stock muffler off and about 10 to mount the Barker including sliding the bracket down the can

Jules or anyone else if you scratch it while installing or during use.

Use scotch brite green pad with a little WD40 and rub with the grain it should take them out.

Just received my Barker's today. I have both the quiet core with screen and the 11/2" core which will give me the variable sound levels I want. This is one beautiful piece. Thanks Mike.

I got mine today, installed it shortly there after. It took me about 45 minutes to do the whole swap, I wasn't as prepaired as I should have been before starting. I ended up scratching my can as well, I had a hard time getting the bracket into it's spot. I'll go get some scotch brite and try that out.

The weather here isn't so great today, but I did start it up in the garage. It sounds pretty bad ass. I can't wait to ride it.

I can't believe how big that stock piece actually is after having it off. The new one looks great. I'll try to get a picture later and put it up.

I ordered the quiet core as well, but it wasn't in the box with the slip-on. I wouldn't have been inside the can already, would it? It may have been shipped separately.

Just got my Barker on ... it barks like some sort of rabid animal straight from the depths of hell. It IS loud enough for me : ) I started it with open headers just for a second and about crapped my pants ... I had NO idea 1125cc could be that loud. I'm glad I didn't get the D&D (not that it was ever in the running). Thanks Tim ... I'm leaving the QC out for now but I like having the option of puttin' that sucker in for days I don't feel so obnoxious ... three hex head fasteners and plop it in. Nice.

Thanks Tim, and thanks Puzz.

Okay, cool. It looked like it may have been, but I didn't unscrew the tip to see.

If that's the quite core in there now, I can't wait to hear how it sounds without it.

Cheers : ) I'll give that a go, right about the same time as I kick his sorry arse out of my house for scratching it in the first place.

It really is a thing of beauty, I was originally planning on heatwrapping the mid pipe and maybe spraying the can with BBQ paint but now think that would be sacrilege.

I think this falls into the category of "best (moderately priced) exhaust I have ever bought" and over the years I have had a fair few!

A little old lady wagged her finger at me this morning though so I may need to consider keeping the revs down in town.. : )
