Called buell customer service to inquire about the availability of the kit. Not until Oct 16th. They were really cool and called the dealership while I waited. As the CR sit's leaking fluid onto the floor. WOW !!!
I asked if there was anyone I could call or email to help expedite but they said the 16th. Also they said that I was the 2nd call she had today on this issue.

Mine started as a weep on my o8, turned into a LEAK after a repair, then the waiting began... early Aug. after 3 weeks of no bike and on top of the other niggles the dealer fixed promptly, I finally threw in the towel. I have owned 3 XB's before this bike with no problems, but this bike is affectively reverseing any gains Buell had made with the public that it can produce a trouble free bike.

"Rotax"

I have been looking at the break down of the mechanisim, it makes no sense to me as to why they are failing..
It will be interesting to see what the final remedy is..}

The "final remedy" is p/n X2086.1AM, "Piston and cylinder kit".
It is on extended backorder, from 9/16 to 10/16 now.
It can be fixed temporarily with new o-rings or piston linings as they are called.

I and several others are waiting for this kit.

Fortunately mine is, as always since Feb 2008, leaking just a dribble.
I have rotated my puck so the drain hole is at the top and drain it every couple of weeks.

Hey, Zac, have you heard anything on whether or not this will be offered as a recall? I have had the leak fixed once, but they didn't even put the Rev B cover on. You are correct about how my leak was fixed ... 2 O-rings, and 2 piston Linings + brake fluid.

We're suppose to have a nasty winter this year, and I don't suppose I'm going to be doing much riding during the winter months. I'm worried that It won't start leaking again until after the warranty expires (which is late December) ... and then I'll be stuck with the bill.

10/16?!? Unf#$king believable. So now what? The dealership's going to love me when all they wanted to do was put in new o-rings and I made a point about the upgraded part. Now I'm going to ask them to put in new o-ring AND swap in the upgraded part when it comes in? And that assumes the backorder won't extend again?

I thought 8 weeks in the service department out of the first 10 weeks I owned it was bad enough. Here we go again. I'd better shut up now or someone in another thread will call me a whiner. I'd love to trade them for their bike that actually does what it's supposed to do.

Wow that part back order is crazy, several months! Are they hand made by some 80 year old blacksmith in the Alps with one arm?

I just got my new Piston and Cylinder kit installed today so some did ship out 9/16 it just depends on when the dealers placed the orders I believe.

Hopefully this the last time.

Don't know anything more about the backorder.
HD/B does fill orders FIFO, so early orders may be filled before the B/O fully releases.

My guess is, although a fairly common problem, this is not prevalent enough to warrant a recall.
All will go smooth once all the parts are available.
Being made in Austria, IIRC, most of Europe takes the MONTH of August off so not much gets done over there.
I suspect THAT is a big part of this SNAFU.

I can vouch for the fact that when Europe goes on "holiday" it is very difficult to get anything.

I had to wait two months for a part for my Ducati because it was ordered during holiday. The entire country goes on vacation at the same time.

So is the "final solution" a 2009/2010 style cover? Because my dealer and Buell CS worked together and I still have an 08 style cover. No leaks *knocks on wood* in 3k miles.

Avc, I believe for those who still have the 08 cover there is a Rev C kit for that cover so you don't need to get a new one.

Final solution has nothing to do with the clutch cover. Don't expect to get your cover changed if you have RevA oover.

Mine started seeping on my last ride, so she's parked until after the B/O parts arrive. Hopefully be riding in November when my kid gets home from Iraq.

Why park it, unless it's shooting fluid? A weep isn't a big deal. Just don't let the fluid sit, so you don't have to fight for a new clutch cover.

Fres, that's why I thought then my clutch lost feel and I couldn't shift.
It's been in the shop since August 25!
Go Buell!

Did you replace the lost fluid?

Mine leaked for about 6 months with no noticeable change in clutch feel or function/

Mine is in for the second time...

First time, they bled the system and it seemed to go away for a while. Its back (as expected). The dealer indicated they are going to rebuild the actuator assembly - new seal etc...

Also... anyone ever wonder why the clutch line rubs on the front cylinder/head? Its a very tight fit as it passes next to the engine and goes down to the side of the motor. Has anyone had the clutch line wear to the point of leakage?

I'm keeping an eye on mine. Just gave the bike a good cleaning, and it's holding liquids as expected.

She's still a baby though.

Dealer just ordered my kit and they said that it would be available Oct 2 with shipping could do the service on the 7th.

It actually looks kind of funny, reminds me of a Lama spitting when I pull in the clutch lever, got fluid all over my work pants this morning.

Just got the call from Service, parts are all here.
Guess I drop her off for a day or two since they are replacing the clutch cover and a fork tube.

I am not sure if it is the weep that is spoken of (pretty sure it is) but my clutch was giving up on me (stopped at light, let go of the break and it was pulling forward). brought it to the dealer, they said it was the 3rd bike with that issue in 2 weeks and it would be replaced, two days later the bike was ready to go (after the second bike they ordered spares : D)

I go in this morning Ryan, I'll find out.
Last I heard, the cylinder/piston, X2086.1AM was on backorder till the 16th.

My fingers are crossed...

There is at least one report that parts have arrived CONUS. If you have questions about getting the parts don't hesitate to contact Buell Customer Service.

This has been the "perfect storm" of parts nightmares but should be resolved quickly.
