Ambidextrous, but mostly left. Forced to be right handed back in the late 1950's in elementary school to learn to write. |

Righty. I am fairly ambidextrous, but definitely have a dominant right hand and right eye. You could call me right-handed as I write with my right hand. On the other hand, my fraternal twin brother is a lefty, as are about 10% of the general population. Not to highjack the thread, but back in the day, the foot controls were reversed, right to left, on English and Italian bikes, (the only ones that mattered:-). This took advantage of a neurological fact that the right hand is connected to the left foot, so that both "crosses" were involved in braking, ( front brake- right hand, rear brake - left foot) and shifting, ( clutch- left hand, shifter -right foot). As I recall, the Germans, who always got everything wrong in those days, adopted left foot shifting on BMW because the drive shaft was on the right or something. The Japanese, who developed a nasty habit of copying everything German during WWll, adopted the system for their bikes, and the rest, as they say, is history. |

Now since we seem to have a relatively high proportion of lefties here, my question is; is it Buell that brought us here, or is motorcycle's in general? Or am I completely over thinking this? Mudbug: you mentioned you shoot with your left hand. Excuse my ignorance, but I thought most guns were set up for right handed shooters? Useless fact of the day: a good number of US presidents are left handed. If you count presidental/VP candidates that number goes way up. Left-Handed U.S. Presidents James A. Garfield (1831-1881) 20th Herbert Hoover (1874-1964) 31st Harry S. Truman (1884-1972) 33rd Gerald Ford (1913- ) 38th Ronald Reagan (1911 - ) 40th George H.W. Bush (1924- ) 41st Bill Clinton (1946- ) 42nd |

It's not so much a high proportion of lefties onsite, here, but, rather, a far higher proportion of lefties, rather than righties, tend to find such a subject interesting. Always consider your data collection methodologies before unfurling your "Jump to Conclusions" mat. |
