8000 miles for $2000 wow, I'm envious, if not exactly filled with loathing.

Forget about the oil pump gear for now, there's been like 2 people reported them bad, out of 11,000 M2's sold. Get around to it whenever you get around to it.

It's the rocker box gaskets and intake seals, I tell ya. Wild a** guess is like 98% of M2 owners have had to do those two things by now.

And yellow is by a smidgen the fastest color. At least in the visible light spectrum.

7K for a used tuber? Kinda steep. I only paid 7200.00 for a new one from dealer w/ warranty. A 2000 X1 that never sold. They have a new 2002 X1W right now for 7000.00.

OK, I FEEL THE HATE...OUCH! Just remember he's family and when he comes up to visit you know what he's going to ride. I went through the receipts last night and found out the rocker gaskets were done and when he complained about the bike running like crap the harley tech stated on the paperwork "spark plugs were replaced because customer did not properly warm engine. $18.00 PLEASE" can you believe that crap!!! Keep in mind that this is in San Antonio Texas. So I think the intake seals are original. I have to call my bro. because I remember HE FOUND the intake leak and fixed it but I don't know how he did it. Well with 8000mls I switch the bike over to mobile 1 15/50 (now that it's broken in). Took it for a ride, froze my a$$ off but it ran great!!! I can pull the wheel up with just a twist in 1st and 2nd gear!

It's easy to resize and manipulate pics with the Irfanview software available for download free in the Photograph section here on the board.

If you E-mail me the pic, I'll get it up for you in the meantime.

I still hate you, btw. This changes nothing!

Just be prepared to keep the bike forever! I got a similar deal years ago. I bought a Marine friend's 5 year old 1100 Katana for $1,900.00 because it didn't start right, it didn't run right, it wouldn't idle and the cruise control didn't work. I bought it sight unseen and had it delivered in the back of his truck. After replacing the carbon fouled plugs it ran fine.

I rode the bike hard for 3 years and then started talking about selling it. When he heard about it, he wanted it back... BAD! At least he offered to pay me exactly what I paid him.

When he came to pick it up, I even did him the courtesy of telling him the reason the cruise didn't work was that it wasn't cruise control. It was actually the enricher, and that it was used to start a cold bike.

Just be careful, or you will be standing there with a $2,000.00 check in your hand, watching your bike drive away in the back of a Texas plate wearing truck!

Seriously though,

I just bought a 2002 M2 a few months ago, and it is the most entertaining bike I have ever owned.

Good luck with it.

Bill

"I can pull the wheel up with just a twist in 1st and 2nd gear!"

Are you talking about a rolling wheelie? Cruise in 1st @ 20-30 mph, roll off throttle, roll on throttle?

Sorry to threadjack, but...

Im now curious...my M2 is jetted (dont know which needles, and was done WAY before I came into the picture) and had the V&H SS2R w/ stock airbox and I have to WORK to get the front wheel up.
Could this be because Im 5ft 10in 215lbs, and optimum rider weight is around 150ish?

Not that Im interested in becoming a "stunna"...more along the lines of thinking that something may not be tuned properly....

again...sorry for jackin' the thread...I just didnt feel like it was necessary to start a whole new thread for my dumb question.

I love wheelie talk.

My M2's engine is stock except for the race kit and rejetting. I can easily power it up in first with just the throttle, but I really gotta believe some body english must be taking place. I don't notice I'm doing it, though.

I can power it up in 2nd, but everything has to be perfect and I can't pull it off without sometimes doing only a 3" wheelie. To guarentee getting the front end up in 2nd, I always find it prudent to just flash the clutch - I hesitate to say 'pop' because its more controlled than that. I haven't tried cluthing it up in 3rd because I'm afraid of snapping my 40,000 mile belt, but I think I could do it. The real wheelie trick is to shift while you're up there. I can do it, but not as comfortably as some I've seen.

A few of you have commented on some wheelies you've witnessed me doing (the really bad ones too...) but I think only Mike Powell (Buellish) has seen me pull off a really good one. There was a BadWebber we used to ride with Pat Mullaney (Pjmule) that could wheelie his M2 in first and shift throught the gears pretty easily. He passed me on the rear tire once going over 80mph.

I also have to work to get the front wheel up on my cyclone. Simply whacking the throttle wont pull it up in any gear (well, it might float a bit in first gear, but not pull up more than a few inches). I have the full D&D exhaust, K&N 3" oval filter, jetted, and pro ignition. Feels like it's running perfect. I just assumed it was the geometry or gearing or something.

ON TO HIS PICTURES!

That bike has some tasty extras... the seat, the lower fairing, the muffler. It looks in perfect shape too.

Hate level rising...

Thanks Mike for posting the pics! Thanks Guys for the comments! I love this M2 and I hope when the weather gets warm you guys can let me know were the Buell rides are. Bill0351 I had a 90 katana 1100 with the power windsheild, sweet ride but I think it buzzed more than the buell. As far as engine mods. go. It has a power jet kit in the carb, V&H muffeler, S1 fairing, corbine seat and X1 lower. Now to wheelie talk, I'm 6'3" 230-240 after holidays. I hit it at 2000RPMs in 1st and she comes right up. 2nd is a hit and miss, if I'm over the bars I can keep it down but if I sit normal or back alittle I'll carry it again. I've been hot rodding my whole life and I read some of your bikes don't sound as fast. The first thing I would say is what octane gas are you running(I use 94 sun.)Second if you open up your air cleaner & exhaust this sometimes hurts lower RPM performance. 3rd I would put a air/fuel ratio monitor on my bike to make sure the A/R is dead on and I advance my timing until pinging is heard then back off.

That sort of looks like a Buell Select Seat not Corbin, and an S2 fairing, not S1. Surprising, the big ugly airbox was left on.

Thanks Jayvee for the correction. I'll get it right sooner or later LOL Corbin is what my bro. told me as he made it very clear it cost him a good $$$. If you guys look close at the speedo and tach you can see the cig. lighter he installed and I think he relocated the trip reset to the left of the speedo. He is a tech for Dodge, so he does pretty go work!

i've thought about as to where i could put the cigerette lighter and i guess i have to look a little closer at the guage bracket.hugie- you got one hell of a deal. nothing like screwing over a brother once in a while.lol(i got 4 of them and everyone has gotten over on me with one thing or another)

rex, very hot looking m2.

now as far as wheelies are concerned, the only one's i have ever done were kinda half assed, but the other day i just happened to turn on the speed channel and they were showing the biker boyz stunting and the guy who was doing the show went to a wheelie school to learn how to do a wheelie. i think i would rather try that than a track day cause what would be the sense of crossing a finish line if you can't pop a wheelie.

I taught myself how to wheelie. I'm going to eventually get a wrecked bike and stunt it. I might even get a Blast to stunt with. I think it would be awesome..HA

Taught myself how to wheelie on my M2.

I will not do stoppies on this thing though because I've heard bad things happen to Tubers during stoppies

Can I run an XB wheel on there with that setup?

Rex that is a sweet ride!!! (how touchy are those front brakes) Nevrenuf, you don't need a wheelie school. Just a big parking lot. Keep in mind, it's easier to pull a wheelie going up hill. So find a incline rev it to 2500 at 5MPH and pop the clutch as the front end comes up (DON'T BE AFRAID IT TAKES ALOT BEFORE YOU GO OVER BACKWARDS) roll on the throttle. Progressively increase your RPMs and throttle imputs as your comfort level improves. It takes practice but wear your safety gear and have someone standby just incase GOOD LUCK AND HOLD ON!!!

I know this thread is being jacked all over the place, but Rex's bike one of the coolest motorcycles I have ever seen. Is there a thread somewhere in the KV about your brakes?

I guess about the only thing left to do to that bike is paint it orange and grey.

Brinnutz, there were some good videos on u-tube of some guy stunting a Blast. I think I got the links from here, but I couldn't find them to post for you.

Oh, and Nevrenuf? Once you get the cigarette lighter in, where are you going to put the ashtray?
