If Obama bought a Buell would you guys like him? Would you ride with him? I bet if he did a 100 foot wheelie that you would even vote for him. It isn't a requirement for me that I have to personally hate a politician that I don't agree with. This is apparently a requirement on the Left, as evidenced by the bashing Sarah Palin continues to take even to this day. On a personal level, I have nothing against the man. I oppose many of his political positions (not all of them), that's all. If I found out he owned a Buell I would be impressed, but no more so than if I found out that Bush owned one. I would ride with either of them, and their ability to ride a wheelie would not affect how I felt about them personally. Contrast that to the fact that many, many people in this country voted for him for no other reason than he is black and a democrat. Oh, and for "change". Whatever the hell that means anyway. All this from the same folks that label anyone who doesn't agree with Obama "Mean, rightwing, KKK & Nazi". Who are the intolerant ones again? I'm confused. I should remember that Old_Man is an ex cop. He isn't used to people disagreeing with him in a forum where he has no control over them. I guess name calling is the only means he has left. I don't think anyone here dislikes you Old_Man, why are you so hateful and, dare I say, mean? Generally, Old_man lacks the ability to make a straight forward, logical, and well structured argument based upon facts. He prefers to bob and weave around discussions, side step direct interrogatives, and define things as only HE sees them. It's ok, we're used to it. Kinda sad, but we're used to it. Personal attacks are usually his last line of defense just after he plays the victim card. I'm still waiting for an answer as to what specific mechanism denies the US the right to use water boarding. I'm still waiting for an answer as to whether extended sleep deprivation is coercion or torture. I'm still waiting for an answer as to what the "rich" do with their money. I could care less what he rides, if he rides, what he does, I only needed to read his book to understand there is NOTHING he has to say that I am interested in, unless it is "I have decided for the good of the country to resign the presidency, effective immediately" that would be interesting to me for about a minute. Then I would be cheering for the 2012 election...if Biden could make it that long......so whatever, I am a mean conservative, down right hateful of people that want to free load of myself and others that pay their way through life. I could also care less about being labeled that...call me a Nazi, KKK, whatever you wish, it doesn't effect my day in the slightest, I know what I am, and I am not inclined to change. Old_Man, There's a "birds of a feather" insinuation there, implying that conservatives generally are all racist fascists, and specifically one ones on this board. I defy you to find a single post on this board advocating the wholesale killing of Jews or the suppression/persecution of minorities. Labeling an entire group of people based on your perceptions is certainly NOT liberal thinking, at least not in the classical sense. It certainly seem to be the case in modern liberal thinking though. Perhaps that's why I'm a conservative. I reject the hatred that modern American Liberals have brought to the party. American Conservatism has as much to do with Fascism as Soviet Conservatism has to do with embracing free markets and free societies. American Conservatives believe the government should exist as it was intended by the framers of the Constitution. That's all. There is no racial component. In fact there is a distinct lack of racial politics in play, which is really what pisses off the folks that make their living off of race baiting and finger pointing. | ||

Excellent post Hootowl. I'm a self proclaimed conservative but hate the insinuation of conservative=racist=fascist=old=white=hater. That's a pretty common association among my more 'liberal' friends. I've tried recently to stop labeling myself or others because I know very few fit well into defined boxes. In my experience the hate/disdain toward conservatives by modern 'liberals' is far greater then the inverse. Another good point about the race baiters.
