It's time every American paid their $32K debt to gain citizenship. If it were allowed, I'd find the money.

Hmm... looking at that debt clock (which is a really cool layout, IMHO), impresses more on why we really need to move to the "fair tax" system.

Pay the government to become a citizen? No thanks. I am trying to keep MORE of the money I earn... not give more to the government.

They have a duty to the citizens to become more efficient... not the other way around.

Thanks, I'm on it.

I'm with Russ.
Less government is the answer.
Less government would mean less need for taxes.
Fair Tax would mean everyone that bought something new, or bought a service would pay taxes, even hookers, crack dealers, illegal aliens, rich, ultra rich, everyone, except for the poor.

That damn thing should come with a warning.
About triggered an epileptic fit.

Of course if I spent the time to really study the numbers it'd probably give me a stress induced migrain.

No win.

Man, this subject BURNS ME UP!!!

It's one of those that I'm better off staying away from most of the time cuz of how angry it makes me.

Makes me want to buy 10,000 rounds of .270, 5,000 rounds of .45, some traps and tools, head up into the northern rockies and disappear. I could live without this mess.

"Retirement age" will probably be 80 by the time I get there.

The only way to fight it is to vote for those who support the Fair Tax... and vote often!

There are always of fighting, most of them perfectly legal. Don't like taxes, quit paying for the optional taxes. Without cigarette and alcohol tax revenue most forms of government will cease to exist. It might even be good for you. Gasoline taxes may be less of a good cause but cut back there too. If we all work at these optional taxes, government can be reined in. Barter and growing your own food will also help.

I compromise by buying local for virtually everything. Most people can be persuaded to accept cash and quite often give discounts.

I'll volunteer $32K if you "volunteer" your service.

I mean the whole notion of a "volunteer" army to gain citizenship is ridiculous if the "volunteers" are actually compensated government employees.

If we stay away, and stay calm, nothing will change.
Be angry, stay angry, get informed, and get involved!!!!

You want a real revolution, let's involve everyone in mandatory service.

You will reduce the cost of the "voluntary" services as well as reducing actual debt accrued buy using conscripted service.

Or in lieu of mandatory service, pay your share of the National debt.

You must be kidding.
I asked for none of that.
As a matter of fact, I've voted against government waste, government spending, bigger government.
I've voted for smaller government, less government spending, less waste, and more personal freedom, more individual rights, less government intervention.
We need to get back to personal responsibility, and quit relying on government for anything other than National Security.
Can't you see the government is just spending our children's and grandchildren's, future?
Soon we'll not have anything, it'll all be the government's, and we'll be left with nothing, only the political elite will have anything.

Is everyone against personal responsibility, and freedom?
Socialism isn't the answer!

Randlepmcmurphy - I did pay to be a citizen. 4 years USMC debt paid in full.

I know I'm a radical in my thinking, but I think service to our country should be compulsory. Either military or civil. Once your service is been performed, you now have the right to vote and decide the direction the country goes.

Thank you for your service Greg, my son just graduated from Parris Island. The more Marines I meet, the more I realize he's in good no, superior company.

Not everyone, but enough to vote in a President.

I know...
Fortunately I'm confident that I've raised my boys to be responsible.
Allowing them to fail, giving them the opportunity to rise up smarter and stronger.
So far, so good.
They'll not ask for any bail out.
Hopefully there are enough parents doing the same thing.
After all, they are our future.

Amen Glitch! I allowed my son to fail, didn't give him everything his friends had just because their parents bought it for them. I made him earn the things he wanted.

He enlisted in the USMC even though he had other options.

He is now more of a man at 19 than most 20-30 year olds I meet.

Parenting is a responsibility greater than anything we can do. If you can raise an equally responsible child, you have done your civic duty above and beyond.

Personal responsibility....quickly becoming a radical idea, outdated and out of touch....embrace it, and triumph over the sheep following the herder.

And once that stops working, the ones responsible will be out of office and unconcerned with buying votes.

I'm sure you were compensated for your service.
Honestly dude?!
I'll volunteer $32K if you "volunteer" your service.
You don't have enough money to buy the service these men provide.
Keep your $32k. It makes you sound foolish.

My 2 cents

I've trained with conscripts, the Greeks as a matter of fact. They all have to serve 2 years. Most of them were the biggest pieces of crap bags you've ever seen. Not saying all, some of them were fine soldiers. But the good majority is a bunch of 18-20 year olds biding their time till they can go back home and get on with their life.

One of the biggest things that makes our military strong that it is the fact that they are volunteer's. They professional and that profession is kicking serious ass. Or providing relief to those who need it. History will show that conscription makes a far weaker fighting force.

Hexangler you have no idea of what sacrifice is if you think service men and women are well compensated for what they do. Am I glad I did it "f yeah". Do I miss it? Every waking moment. But then again I have till I'm 35 to make that choice.

Cyclone8u congrats to your son for making it. But you should tell that San Diego is were the men go to boot camp. Hollywood Marines live the life. Sand flees aren't really that big of a deal.
