Do they train women at Parris Island? Yes or no. Then ergo that's where the women train.

Randlepmcmurphy, he's at Camp Lajeune, feel free to stop in anytime and tell him he's not a real Marine because he came from Parris Island. I'm sure he'll get a chuckle out of it.

Try that one one the IRS.
It's been tried, some of those that have tried are in, or have been in Federal Prison, some merely have to pay the taxes with hefty fines, penalties, and interest. It ain't worth the risk IMHO

We had some of those anti-tax folks on Talk Radio, locally, back in the 90's. They all went to prison and were never heard from again....lol. In contrast, the Baltimore City Police Commissioner, Ed Norris, went to jail on corruption charges and now has his own radio program.

Any Robert Heinlein fans out there?
His political ideas made it into his writing quite a bit. He's a big believer in personal responsibility. He finds an opportunity for a character to explain why things should be the way they are.

Starship Troopers is set in a world where military service is required to become a citizen and vote. It's still voluntary, most people don't bother signing up. Of course they need to let anyone in and find work for people the military wouldn't normally want.

He also gets into economics with the "TANSTAAFL" concept - There ain't no such thing as a free lunch. His commentary on getting "free" things from the government instead of paying directly is explained where people have to pay for air before they are allowed in a city on the moon, they don't want any freeloader.

Besides all that, his books are really entertaining. I recommend starting with his older stuff, though. It gets a little weird in his later books.

Camp Lejeune that sucks, I feel for him there. I wonder if southern comfort is still out the back gate. Many a good time in that strip club.

The Brits gave up National service as a dead loss decades ago, The French too have given it up along with many other nations.
It's totally wasteful training people who have no wish to be there & dangerous for their comrades that do.

As for taxation, it's all well & good saying send a message to your government, by not buying high tax products, but do you really think that'll worry them? They'll just go "hmm revenue's dropping here so we'll jack it up there."
It won't be on luxury items that the wealthy buy either, but on essentials that folks can't do without, as that's a stable income stream.

And, YES, it'll finish in revolution, either bloody or democratic, you've only got to read your history books to tell you that.
But don't take my word or anybody else's for that matter, go & find out for yourself, & I don't mean "wikipedia" or "manfromthepubsays". Local Libraries are wonderful sources of information. Try & get sources from all perspectives too so you don't get a tainted picture.

Opinions are like arseholes, everybody has one.

Uninformed opinion is just a waste of breath.

To be 19 and full of piss and vinegar again...being 40 and full of piss and vinegar just makes it extremely hard to move the next morning....someday I'll learn.
