That was the release of the automatic last year. They are all demos.

They are selling over here. You can use them on a car licence. Not so in Aus.

Barker is right about some of the suck too.

lining up in traffic blows and they are hard work for a passenger.

Theys still a bunch of fun on the open road.

It is the 'bike' I would ride in winter... with some modifications of course.

"Lets take the suck of a car and mix it with the suck of a bike."

It would be better if the two wheels were in the back so the person riding with you could have a wider seat. I don't understand why people like these!

You can use them on a car licence.

That's one of the main selling points in Europe too.

Saw one parked at work this week, don't know whose it is yet, but guessing one of the directors.

Some people start off riding 3 wheels and wearin' diapers so it's only fitting that they finish it off that way.
Some people should just stick to cars!

and NO, I haven't tried one and nobody can make me either!

I've seen quite a few around Tallahassee. There's a dealer here in town, and much like the rest of you, the closest Buell dealer is a couple of hours away.

I went to buy a jacket a couple of weeks ago and asked the guy about them. The dealer said he's selling them like hotcakes. He was one of the last places in the area to get his shipment, and so he's the only one that has any left to sell.

Guy here in town got a matching set for him and his wife last year. Don't see them out much at all. Given todays weather forecast, they might be out later today.

In the Clearwater Florida area I've seen two. Both are yellow and sometimes ride together.

There is a young guy in my office that just totaled his Honda CBR 600. He has some insurance money in his pocket and is thinking about one.

I don't see the appeal of them myself but that's ok. Different strokes...

I have seen a handful since they've been out. Not many, though.

I also see more of these than other Buells on the road. There a Firebolt I see maybe once a month or less, and once in a blue moon I'll cross paths with another Buell of some sort, but that's been it.

I haven't ridden one of these things, and I know I wouldn't buy one, but I would really like to try one and see what it's about.

I've probably seen the same handful that xl1200r has. But I am seeing more of them. Still see more of the spyders than buells as well... And we have 2 buell dealers within 20 mins of Albany..

Doon - funny still that I don't think I've ever seen you out and about on your bike, either, though. You're the only other confirmed Buell I know of in our area. I suspect two others, but that's it.

XL1200r-

If you ever get a chance to do a spyder demo, do it! It's a blast to ride them, and one of the better coordinated demo rides I've been on. That rotax power plant is yummy.

Seems that serious spyder riders are a unique breed of cat, not your typical "trikers". Just like us Bueller's, they tend to be a little..mmm...interesting. It's great that there's a product out there to accomodate them. B.

I've seen three on the road and one at our Memorial Day gathering last year. I actually got to throw a leg over it. It's a little odd to set on compared to a bike but hearing it run and watching him scoot down the road made me want to ride it.... BAD!

I will have one sometime in the future. They have a flat black one at a local cycle shop and 3 other colors. Ive never cared for typical trikes but the spyder is sweet.

Not from my experience. Can Am was doing demos during Americade a few years ago, and followed a similar route to the Suzuki demo ride I was on, which followed a twistey moutain raod full of blind corners. Instead of planning the route to form a complete loop, or turning everyone around in the empty parking lot a 1/4 mile down the road, they all turned around at a side street entrance on the exit of a blind corner. I was third in line - our leader braked hard and missed the KTM dual sport (the Can Am's lead rider) that was sitting halfway into the lane trying to stop traffic). The guy in front of me started fish tailing and stopping fast (I thought he was going down for sure, but he saved it), and I (riding a beheamouth M109R cruiser (which has the WORST balenced brakes of any bike I've ridden), managed to lock up the rear wheel, swing the ass end out with smoke pouring off the back tire and coming to a quite graceful rest with the bike nearly completely sideways in the lane. Everyone behind us had enough warning to make safe stops, and the Can Am leader got chewed out pretty good.

I was a little pissed that I locked the rear up during this, but my buddy who was right behind me (as well as some of the other riders) seemed to think I handled it all quite well - I never paniced, and my foot didn't touch teh ground until I was stopped.

It was really annoying then, but now I'm just pissed I don't have it on video - it must have looked pretty friggin' cool.

Well, fortunately I had none of that happen with my Spyder ride, so maybe they've made improvements to their process and the quality of their group leads. The whole process-including registration, the pre-ride training aids oh, sorry, VIDEOs, training course they had set up to get hands on experience before getting on the road, the ride itself, customer satisfaction survey and the follow up, was quality, seamless and impressive. "Stuff" can happen on any demo ride. Unfamiliar bikes + unfamiliar roads + unpredictable traffic on public roads = high potential for problems.

My hubby and I almost both got taken out by some joker on a 2300 cc Triumph who could not control his bike and barely stopped it before he ran into the back of the Sprint and Tiger we were on. After that, we called it a day and ended our demos.

I've seen several of those Spyders around town. There's a dealer for those about 5 miles from my house. They look fun, but not fun enough for me to spend $17K on one.

I posted many months that my mother got one and I had a chance to spend a day riding it. It is a really fun piece of machinery. If you rode a conventional trike, you would understand why the two wheels are in the front. I was faster on the Spyder (within a half hour of riding it) than most of the squids I come across on ricers.

I don't think I would want to own one, but borrowing one a few times a year would be just right.

17K?! Does it burn up the rear tire? What about stoppies? Thats a lot of cake for a snowmobile on wheels! It still dose'nt appeal to me.

You cannot get what a Spyder is about on a test ride.

I'm pretty experienced and versatile rider - took me a full tank of gas to get the mojo.

It needs several hundred miles to gel first go - unless you have just jumped off a sports quad or similar.
