I've seen a few threads on other forums about amber running lights being illegal in some states. Anyone know which states require red? ~SM | ||

Interesting- my 83 Honda Ascot VT500FT has factory installed amber running lights in the front turn signals. | ||

I think you have it the other way around. Amber is pretty much all state legal as far as I know. Its the red signals on bikes that some states don't like....but then again I have NO idea which ones or how many.... Or hell if i'm right at all :-) | ||

Hmm... I guess everyone's a little muddled then. Red running lights couldn't be bad, since ALL bike tail lights are red runners. I just won't worry about it.  ~SM | ||

My Sportsters also have amber running lights (front only, for some unknown reason). I would think that states object to anything red up front, reserving that for emergency vehicles. | ||

IL - amber running lights in the front and red running lights in the back. My vote went with amber front and back. I've yet to be stopped round here - the cops in my area are an ok bunch. Good luck finding a set of running/turn lights that look good and don't burn themselves up though... | ||

Yeah, I read all your the posts about your conversions, Midknyte. I'm splurging on some LED dual-channels, and they're available with red or yellow running lights, which is why I was asking. I'll probably just go all amber. ~SM | ||

Amber running lights are illegal in California for the REAR lights. Amber is legal for the front only. | ||

Amber is legal all around a vehicle except the back, where it is red only. I coverd my bike with orange LED lights (Which accent the orange frame very nicely) and my research is based on WI law. Also if you were to get pulled over for it, just wait 5 minutes and paint to any semi truck/trailer covered in orange running lights. | ||

It's weird that so many dual-circuit turn signals are amber/amber if there are multiple states that don't allow them...? ~SM | ||

Amber/amber is legal in most states...in FRONT. Up to the buyer/owner to make sure and put the right color at the right end of the bike/vehicle. Basically: Amber light equals the front of a vehicle Red light equals the rear of a vehicle, except emergency vehicles | ||

Glitch, where did you find that? I've been doing internet searches for the past 2 hours and can't find jack crap on the Georgia website (that thing's pretty much useless unless you're trying to get a form printout!  ). ~SM | ||

Glitch, where did you find that? It found me. I got a ticket for having red running lights all round. I took them off and beat the ticket. At court, the judge told me amber can stay on all the time on the front of the vehicle, red on the back. Amber all round could get you a ticket as well. Amber front Red back | ||

Yeah, I confirmed that today at the gym. I just happened to overhear a conversation about ticketing for dark tinted windows... turns out one of the guys was a patrolman. So I asked him about the amber on back of a bike, and he said that probably wasn't a good idea. ~SM |
