I heard there may be a surprise guest that's a former racer and hasn't been on the track for a few years? I'll be racing at R.A. already, but I wish I could be at B.H riding with said person!!

im looking forward to seeing what you can do on the buell this year.

i would prefer not to get an up close and personal view of the side of your bike mid corner this time though! lmao!

my plan is to bring the 9 out for the first session or two so i can get to know the track on a bike that i know like its part of me, then pull out the 1125 and see what it will do!

Novice for me on the Uly. Second time for a track day. It should be a lot of fun. I am assuming there won't be any demo 1125s there.

The weather looks to be pretty nice.

Yeah I don't want to show you the side of my bike either. I can show you around the track, I'm certainly not the quickest around it but at least I know the track. It's going to take me a little bit too since this is the first time on the Buell there.

Remove mirrors, tape headlights completely, tape turn signals completely, tape taillight completely.

I'm debating the track day. I have a slot available to me, but we'll see if the wife would rather watch me on the S2 at the track, or go for a ride through WI countryside with me on the 'adventure rides'.

Although, I'm gonna try like hell to convincer her tonight that instead of trucking out the S2, we should just *ride* the Uly....wish me luck!

The surface is decent, nothing like RA though. There are some rough spots from cars but there is really only one place that you go over it on a bike. Its hard on tires as well. I just put a set of corsa 3s on and expect them to be pretty balled up at the end of the day.

the center of the rear on the 1125 is a little lower than i would like but the sides are in pretty good shape. they only got a few hundered miles of use in georgia and a few corners spread out around here so hopefully they will be fine.

To sum it up in a word; WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was my first track day so I Signed up in novice, which was split into 2 groups. There were less than 10 riders in my group, no passing.

First session I did on my 12R. We were all kinda bunched up following the lead instructor, figuring out the layout, lines and body positioning, etc.

Second session I did on an 1125R. It started with some frustration from being behind some painfully slow riders so I come down pit lane, hooked up with another instuctor and told her I think I am in too slow of a class. So she says "follow me" and around we go and I quickly learn how SLOW I really am!!!! She showed me some good lines around the course and gave me some good advice.

Third session I did on an XB12S. I found the S riding position somewhat uncomfortable for me, but I was still having fun and learning. Then we broke for lunch.

After lunch, they opened up passing fo novice on the 2 straights. I was on an 1125R for the remainder of the day, except for one session on an XB12R.

Fourth Session I hooked up with another instructor who lead me around. He showed me some real good lines and showed me my potential to be faster. Things got interesting here... On the first lap he lead me around we passsed some other guys headed towards the last turn and I instantly thought "holy crap I am going way to fast"... I was on the brakes and down shifting with the rear end getting squirrelly and then I started to do the natural thing; target fixate, and look for a safe way to gracefully exit the track. That thought lasted for about .5 seconds... then I hung off the bike and put pressure on the inside bar with a closed throttle. I swung out of the corner way wide, to the edge of the track and when the bike straightened up I was on the gas catching the instructor. I gave him a thumbs up and we kept going.

From this point my confidence increased ten-fold and I began getting faster on the track. I started learning braking points, shift points and what gear to be in in what corner. Now is when stuff started really getting fun!!! I was getting quicker!!

All in all a great day. Only one Buller had a get off, but was ok and so was the bike.

If you haven't done a track day, do it!! It is fun!!

During one of the afternoon sessions on an 1125R I experienced my first knee down!!!! I got my knee down on a big sweeping right hander!! That was really cool and I learned a lot by getting a knee down. I was getting quicker yet. By my last session I was able to get both knees down on some point of the track and come ripping into most of the corners!!

P.S.

Shawn Higbee made an appearence on the track. What was really interesting is Valerie Thompson (NHRA Pro Stock Buell Drag Racer) was riding 2 up with Shawn and they were smkoing around the track!!!!!!!!

Blackhawk was fun, anyone else (no_rice mentioned he did also) jump the curbing at the chicane trying to straighten it out? Nick from Sentury/Dairyland Insurance said I cleared it by several inches.

I'll try to post any decent ones my wife took, if anyone has shots of some clown wearing an Aerostich with knee pucks and a Buell patch on the back (that would be me) send 'em my way.

Interesting that they didn't check: Recalls, tire pressure, hip protectors, antifreeze, modular helmets in Intermediate, tire bluing ...

InsuranceNick went down in turn 1 on his red XB12R in the afternoon, I saw a few others ride off and I heard someone dropped a demo 1125R - any other mishaps?

Well-run track day all-in-all. I did get slowed down by an instructor who though I was catching people too fast, I tried to find open track after that.

some pics posted in the pic thread

Also, the Tech Spec pads are here - you need to ask for an 1125R set until they update their site.
