Prez. Carter has issues. lots of them.

The laws of thermodynamics say......nope.
Wouldn't a fuel catalyst/magnet/nano/etc. be a better way to give people money who don't deserve it? ( no, it's not! )

Or you could keep the money.

Did you even watch the video? Read the article?

A local atl guy's dad has been using this for over 10 years on his car. I have asked if it worked but I would assume yes if he kept it for over 10 years.

Now I dont believe everything I see but I looks like he has some merit.

This is the basis for closed-loop fuel cells. The science is sound, but I have to say I'd be more than a little suspicious of this.

To say the very least, I guarantee you that it would void your warranty if you started injecting hydrogen into your fuel system to burn.

If your car's computer doesn't know there hydrogen being injected, how will it know to add less gasoline?

I read the "article" and it sounds like a bunch of smoke and mirrors to me. I would like to be proven wrong.

the energy to crack water is more than you get back by burning it in a IC car engine. ( or fuel cell, or any chemical device ) It's not just a good idea, it's the law.

If they've come up with a magic cracker, like from the movie "Chain Reaction", I'm interested, but I'm not holding my breath.

Now, fuse the H, & you get excess power, but this is car engine & fuel cell tech, Not Nuclear.

A "closed loop" fuel cell would be a perpetual motion machine. We keep them with the Gremlins & Hobbits. Nice to dream about, can't find one.

"Closed loop" does NOT indicate that it is a perpetual motion machine, it indicates that there is no FUEL IN nor EMISSIONS OUT.

NASA recently demonstrated that the technology works; their R&D is geared towards eventually putting something like this on the moon to power a station there.

Yes, it requires energy in to split the water into H and O, but that energy can be derived from non-polluting sources, such as solar (in NASA's case).

Again, the science behind closed-loop fuel cells is real, but it will require significant advances before it is viable in small applications like a car.

I learned this when a friend and I tried to get a lawn mower to run off water in junior high. We were supposed to get rich, but it neer happened, lol.

The only thing I'll mention is this uses something called Brown's Gas (HHO), so that may be easier to form from water.

Like P. T. Barnum said, "there's a sucker born every minute." And then there's the old addage that "a fool and his money are soon separated."

Been there, done that. Learned the hard way that Slick50 is a scam that will not only cost you the price of admission, but also a new exhaust tract, or maybe just a muffler and tailpipe if you are lucky. :/ The stuff produces a strong acid that will condense inside of and corrode the heck out of the exhaust tract.

As to this scam:

HHO = H2O = Water = Incombustible

By the description and simplicity of the system being touted, it's just a simple water injection system. Something that is indeed a viable anti-knock solution for high compression, or turbocharged/supercharged, or nitrous injected engines.

I ran one such system on my turbo-charged 1970 Chevelle SS. When manifold pressure increased to a certain point, the little water pump, what looked like a windshield washer pump, would spray water through a little jet/atomizer straight into the carburetor. It worked magnificently to prevent pinging.

Blake - water injection has been around a long time, and this very well may be that (I didn't look at the "kit" in too much depth).

But isn't HHO is gaseous form the stuff that one guy was able to burn down in Florida or something? There was a you-tube video up on here on it a while back.

I think was building a radio transmitter to attack cancer cells or something, but then he found that if he put salt water in it he would get a flame.

Am I confusing things?

Just reality. joker

Gaseous HHO = H2O = steam = incombustible

If you invest enough energy to break the Hydrogen and Oxygen bonds of water molecules, and then combust the resulting hydrogen and oxygen, you'll get less energy back than you invested.

If this scam were viable, the technology would be on every automobile being produced today.

Pirated from another site I posted on.

But... this technology is likely going to be what ultimately replaces fossil fuels. The problem with the hydrogen models is that it is extremely difficult to split the H2O atom to get the hydrogen. It is a very strong covalent bond (this bond is also why the conversion back to water is so powerful ... it's actually what lifts the space shuttle and is why food on the space shuttle is all dehydrated, they literally pipe the exhaust from the engines [pure water] back into their food when they are in orbit if you can believe it).

The problem is splitting the H2O into the free hydrogen gas.

But... there is a mechanism on this planet that does this extremely efficiently.

The next time you are riding look at the green plants around you ...

Photosynthesis!

Photosynthesis actually takes water molecules (H2O) and splits the water with only sunlight and some catalysts as the input and it does it very efficiently. The plants keep the hydrogen atoms and release the oxygen atoms into the air (that we breath).

Photosynthesis is an extremely complex chemical process that has around 24 or something stages. The H2O itself is split during photosynthesis around stages 17 to 19.

Unlimited energy and fuel with no pollutants is contained within those 3 chemical transition stages.

All that is really needed is for some brainiacs to simulate those 3 chemical stages and make an H2O -> H H O pump with reusable catalysts.

If that ever happens, we will just have a little "hydrogen collector" probably the size of a microwave, we will fill it with water, put in the sunlight and it will fill a tank of hydrogen as big as we want just like plants do ... and we can then run anything off this. There are hydrogen stoves already (they use them on islands), there are direct-running hydrogen cars and they run better than gasoline cars.

It is so disappointing that the U.S. gov doesn't just put $50 Billion into replicating that step in photosynthesis ... but then, if they do that, no more natural gas companies, no more oil companies, no more gas stations. We will just have out little microwave with some panels we put water into attached to hydrogen storage tanks ... wouldn't even have electric bills anymore.

The oil companies have actually looked at this ... but they don't want to do it ... because hydrogen is dangerous to transport, it is only good if you generate it locally and if we are making it ourselves, well ... they can't really charge us for it now can they? So hydrogen is going to end the electricity, natural gas, and oil monopolies as we will generate it our selves and store it for ourself.

I do think it's probably going to happen though ...

... if we can build bombs that destroy the world in 15 minutes, surely we can copy 3 stages of photosynthesis in a synthetic process that splits H2O for us.

BTW, there have been a couple researchers who have made this work with 10% efficiency (the minimum needed for it to work commercially), it required a platinum catalyst though which would get "dirty" and need to be replaced. They needed some way to clean the platinum so you didn't have to replace it that they couldn't figure out. And there was another guy who did it with a funky type of algae, but the algae would get "tired".

Both of these guys I was following 5 years ago and all of their papers have vanished from the Internet curiously ... I tried to find them again and I can't, they are G O N E. I won't say the oil monopolies bought them out, I have no clue where they went. Maybe they are launching a company to solve the remaining issues ...

Either way that website is a scam ... but it is the right idea that will likely ultimately solve the energy/pollution issues we have! It just needs some true-believer talented scientists working on it ... and, maybe a month of Iraq bombing money.

Did a little research -

turns out HHO is actually a mixture of hydrogen and oxygen gas, not merely steam.

An important line though, "The energy required to split water into hydrogen and oxygen is always greater than the energy created by burning it."

Ain't Wikipedia a great thing?

It seems like it would work, ( and bee's don't get arthritis, so bee pollen is the cure for achy joints! ) but I don't see the #'s coming out without magic.

The catalytic/sonic/ionix gizmo that can crack water with less energy than you get from burning it is the sorcerer's stone. Call me when we get it, since that's the cure to our energy ills. Not holding breath.

If you pump in energy, it's not a power source, it's a battery. You can make the liquid/gas cycle relatively closed, but you are storing energy & releasing it in your engine/fuel cell. That never add's up to more. Every conversion cycle has to lose energy, it's entropy.

Simple to test though. Set throttle, switch on gizmo, watch RPM, If it goes up, Nobel prize!

You think photosynthesis is energy efficient? You might be surprised to learn the actual numbers. There is no free lunch. For the best crops, like sugarcane, a whopping 3.5% of solar energy is converted into biomass. Even the theoretical peak efficiency of photosynthesis is not that amazing at 25%.

"Do you really think so$$$"

I know so. Every automobile manufacturer on the planet is investing VAST amounts of money and resources to innovate and implement hybrid, electric and other fuell saving technology, all aimed at capturing a share of the market. If there was ANYTHING that would allow them to produce a more fuel efficient product at a reasonable price, they would do so without question and with a vengeance.

Food on Spacecraft is dehydrated to save weight. The Shuttle engines run on Hydrogen & Oxygen, kept as cryogenic liquids, to save space & weight. So do the fuel cells to provide electricity. The waste from the cells is water. That's used to rehydrate the food & for drinking.

The steam coming out the engines is the reaction mass you are throwing away, to make it move. ( also quite hot & fast ) After achieving orbit, they are only used to make course changes. The rest of the time they are just bolted there.

Consider that every pound hauled up to orbit takes several pounds of fuel. Bigger fuel tanks weigh more, taking more fuel to lift etc.

Slight correction: The shuttle's main engines are not used after the fuel tank is jettisoned. Course corrections on-orbit are made with thrusters using extremely toxic hypergolic propellant. This stuff is so toxic that when the shuttle lands, there has to be a safing/life-support crew on-hand to verify that there is no leaking propellant to endanger the crew when exiting the spacecraft.

Sorry for the detour, I was just remembering some things I learned while on the program.: )

Aerodynamics?? they could make cars much better at being slippery, how about saving weight? Who needs 75lb each 20 inch wheels to get to work?? NO ONE??

Why do we NEED a 7000lb auto to move 180lbs of human??(or a 300lb american)

The hybrids are a joke, I have said it before and will say it again. My bud's diesel Jetta gets better mileage than a prius and can tow two bikes to the track, it is a shame is a junk VW.
