Hopefully no one cares that this isn't in the knowledge vault, but it's not really a technical question. I'm just looking for opinions on different exhaust systems people are using on their XB's. I think I'm finally going to get a 12R this spring and don't want to just end up with whatever the dealer wants to sell me. Or maybe the real question is, is there any that I should definitely stay away from?

I live in Vancouver, WA. so if anyone has had a great dealer experience in this area, please feel free to let me know that as well. My closest dealer is Paradise and I've had a mixed experience with them so far.

Thanks in advance for your input!!

Thanks for the link Barker. Very helpful.

Maybe I should have also asked if anyone is running full exhaust vs. just a slip on. I've always used full systems (header & muffler) except on my 916. On all my in line 4's the full systems were very beneficial, but not sure if that is the case with the XB. Just wondering if it's gonna be more like the 916 in that if you do the full system, then you have to do even more beyond just new chip/ecm to really reap the benefits. I'm not going to be racing this thing, but I would like to maximize the performance correctly without doing lots of extra work I don't need.

Thanks again for the quick response guys. I'm really getting anxious to get back to riding. I sold my 916 about 18 months ago and haven't replaced it. My how time flies.

The Micron is a full system. IMHO the only real option for the XB right now. I have one and I love it.

The Force exhaust is out there, but INCREDIBLY loud.

There is also the TiForce, but it costs about twice as much as a Micron if I remember right.

There is also the Becin.....another very loud pipe. I don't think you can get them new anymore, you would have to find a used one.

EDMBueller, I'm with you. 2 words: DRUM MER. I have the original drummer and it is awesome, Kevin is a really cool guy and really easy to do biz with. It sounds like an old lady's fart fighting thru her fat buttcheeks and backfiring from indigestion. Imagine that coming from your bike.

One word. Stock.
Good powerband.
No Noise.
Keeps cops and little old ladies happy.
Doesn't cost any extra cash.

Crusty has a point, I think you should at least, ride it a little while with the stock exhaust. I really does work remarkably well - a lot of effort went into it. Besides, if and when you do make a decision, (Micron w/remap) you will be in a better position to evaluate the benefits.

All true; but the never underestimate the placebo effect on the butt-dyno.

The XB12 has the best of both worlds stock: quiet when tooling around and free-flowing loud when wide open. One can be a stealth-fighter or a hooligan thanks to the interactive exhaust.

Wish I had that on my XB9R.

Thanks again guys for the input. I already know it will get exhaust after riding my 916 for 5 years with D&D on it. There's nothing like the sound of a twin with good exhaust. I was really looking to see if there was any that people really didn't like. "Stay away from this!" That link to the test results was probably all the help I needed, but it's always good to hear from people that are actually using them.

Thanks again, and I'll let you know how it goes.

Loud Pipes... save lives and make MORE POWER!
The fourth biggest lie..............
Loud pipes are for those who when they were little, their mommies didn't pay attention to them so now they want everyone else to pay attention to them.
Loud pipe SCHMUCKS are ruining motorcycling for everyone.
