That oil tank looks like it sticks out further...

It's the new Roadster, which they are trying to make look like the old style, but sportier. It's got a retro look and a much more retro seated position. I looked at a Roadster but could not fit on it due to its' seating position. (I am 6'2") It's much more upright and "standard" than any other bike Harley makes.

Just thought i would post this info for people who don't know much about Harley's "other" bikes.

one of the basic tennents of counter-intelligence work is to show the folks who are trying to get yer secrets something believable -- next on the hierarchy is something they won't notice, then, something so outrageous they'll discount it as fakery, and so on

sumpin tells me none of the guesses are dead nuts on, but, hey, it's fun, ain't it?

That bike looks very much like what was described in Motorcyclist magazine.

Like Mr Scott said, they might be dusting off some old plans/patents. If it is indeed watercooled, the radiator is under the M2-ish tail section, like the Nova.

Yeah Jose', that is the first thing that popped into my mind. Motorcyclist mag wasn't too far off on its photoshopped artist rendition of the suspect.

It ain't a sport bike though, whatever it is. Maybe HD is going to more of a standard look, like with the Street Rod.

Jimidan, I take back what I said in an earlier post about Motorcyclist magazine. Maybe I misread the article, but I didn't see any mention of the picture that they ran as being a photochop. This new photo certainly adds credibility to their article.

Found a very cool article on the Nova project. Seems like some of the modern Buell design can be seen in that bike.

Euro brands such as BMW, Triumph and Ducati will show new bikes in Intermot, but might save something for later events in Birmingham UK and Milan in Italy. We will be there as well so that you won't miss a thing! Finally, as we started with Victory in this article we will end with THE motor company. You might think that new 96c.i engines and special Night Rod's was more than enough from Milwaukee in one year, but as a matter of fact Harley-Davidson have not shown us all yet. They have kept one or two significant new models secret for the INTERMOT. We have heard it will be a new XR or a Roadster (or both). The XR could well be the Scrambler 883 we have been talking about as after all it's the 50th anniversary for the Sportster this year. We will attend the pre-event VIP press conference in Cologne the 9th of October. Next week will be huge in terms of news so make sure you take the day off work and sit down in front of the computer with a cold beer and some peanuts. There is no better entertainment than getting excited about new models and next Monday and Tuesday are the two biggest days this year. TS

Dang, looks like all my whining for a Street Tracker facsimile just may pay off.

If that spy shot is a Street Tracker and the production model has the style and power (read: Buellish 1200), it will be sitting in my garage along side my Wide Glide ASAP!!!

Wish Buell could have done it, but without a tube frame, that was highly unlikely.

Yeah, I could 'settle' for a Sportster like that. Just make the exhaust a 2-into-1, and probably cut the handlebars narrower.

Mutton dressed like lamb, probably as guttles as the old Sportsters. Mighty nice looking though.

That street tracker looks to have a standard Sportster engine to me. I don't see any indications whatsoever of any liquid-cooling system.

No sign of liquid cooling, but those do appear to be XB heads.

Ow come on, look, H.D. ie: The Mother Ship has been in the process of bumping up the displacement, cubic inches of all the big twins right? Now its the Sporsters turn, nothing new, they have been doing this for years, first the big bikes then the Sporty. Its an H.D. dumbed down version of the XBRR 1340 race motor? 100 RWHP easy all day long would not stress it at all. The XBRR makes 130 RWHP stressed? Finaly A Sporster with some sport built into it? Beleave it or not.

Personally, I'm hoping that the "De-stressed" 100 HP XBRR motor makes it into an XB13.5 ST.
But it's only my dream. Sport Tourers don't sell.(except to me, my wife and a few others...)

It's probably just some guy's slightly customized 2005 sporster with XB heads and aftermarket pipes.
He was probably just commuting to work.

Customized, not with all that junk hanging off the trunk, unless his middle name is Mr. Safety... Also no plate so the pic may be a legit testing site pic. I agree on the lack of plumbing evidence on the H2O cooling but the large oil bag and seat cowl lead me to believe there may be something to the effect of partial H2O or something we have not seen before type of cooling just to satisfy EPA noise concerns...

Went back and re-read bout the Nova. Thanks for the link.

This time around it what struck me was the Whodda-Thunk'ery that was going on - way back in the 70's(!). The inspiration and willingness to put a part in a non-traditional place over 25 years ago. "We" really just got introduced to that with our XB's a few short years ago.

Someone saying, what if we put the airbox up here?

What if we put the radiator under there?

What if we put the gas in saddle bag/tanks?

What if we sold T-Shirts?

Does this bike look watercooled?

It was, they did it before, they hold the patents.

Not saying that spy pic was a watercooled bike, but if it is this is probably the way they did it.

Just checked the Intermot site to see if there was any more info. The only thing I found of interest is that Harley had their press conference this afternoon. Buell has a press conference scheduled at 1:45 PM (their time) tomorrow.

Hmmmm........

There does not appear to be any water lines?

At first look compared to the earlier posts about the underseat radiator, it would appear to be L/C, but with the F.I could it be side engine air intake under the fuel tank as opposed to a radiator air intake?

Maybe they just put the fuel in the wrong/traditional spot?

Maybe they should have went with drum brakes also?
